Not sure if this is a long shot due to me not knowing whereabouts you live 115K, but there is a charity called Adsis that works with people with alcohol dependency (as well as other addictions like drugs and gambling).

They are based in Stafford though so not sure how near/far this is from you.

Just thought I would post it anyway just in case ((hugs))

You're not pointless, we all have our good and bad days and we're all here for you on this thread :)

I am not AF today. I was drinking vodka and tonic at 1.30 today. I don't know what is wrong with me at the moment. I feel like I should leave this thread because I am being pointless. I can't understand why I ended up like this.:( Sorry to be so down.:o

This is a cutting down thread as well as a giving up thread. Good job an all as I would have left ages ago ;). At least it was diluted with tonic :D

:( I just worry that I shouldn't be on this thread as I know other people on here aren't like me.

And why should you not be on this thread :naughty:. I think we are all very similar on here even if we dont think so and have paths that are linked with our emotional and physical feelings.

Sounds like you are having a tough day. How long have you been with a medication review with the doctor? Have you ever been offered counselling? Many GP's are pretty clueless when it comes to mental health. Might be worth ringing the surgery and asking which doctor there specialises in depression.

Speaking as someone who suffers from depression, alcohol is often used to self medicate. (i'm sure you know that) trouble is alcohol makes you even more depressed.

Make an appointment with the docs. Take a friend who can explain for you how you feel. It can be incredibly diffiult to get your message across when you are feeling really down.

This book is fantastic for sufferers of depression, and anyone who has to live with them.

    It WILL pass. It WILL.

And of course you should be here! In fact it sounds like the ideal place for you. x

    Great.

I don't know where you live but our local drug and alcohol service is buckling under the strain. Don't be put off if the waiting list is huge. Remember AA has no waiting list.

Aww thanks. I am under the "care" of a psychiatrist at the moment. Where is the roll eyes smilie? I can't take meds as they react to me too much.:( I feel like I was born an alcoholic as both parents were alcoholics. I just didn't want to end up this way. Sorry I am being poor little me today.:o

I'm not sure that anyone is born an alcoholic. Mind you, I have no experience of growing up in that environment so it may be easy for me to say. I believe you have a choice &, knowing how you don't want to be, maybe could help you to keep focused. I hope your local group can help too :)

Am fed up of being debt :(

However it's entirely possible I owe about £250 less than my sig says. I need to check the o/s balance on a loan & I can't do that til tomorrow. Feel somewhat cheered up by the prospect :)

Honestly, with accounting like this it's no wonder I owe money! :rotfl:

115k - My heart goes out to you. Other peeps have said it much better than I can but I wish you all the very best in getting help and hope it happens soon. And yes you absolutely belong on here. A lot of us struggle in our own ways.

    On another note:
Went out last night and came home to find you'd all come out to play and gone away by the time I'd got back! So ....

Some links to where I went with DS1. Can't choose just one!
