where I was looking for some reason for feeling low and pants. Now I know downing so much booze was probably the root cause of my 'downess'

That sounds a lot like me too....
I am noticing that I can freely talk to people (in the real world) about the drink now. Also I have been pleasantly surprised by how I am now happy to admit that I was drinking too much before I stopped.....back then I would have denied a drink just so that people though I did`nt drink much....then I`d go home & drink a whole bottle.:eek: ....funny thing denial....& very scary:eek:

This hit a chord with me - lots of poeple thought I didn't drink that much - then at the weekend I would go home and crack a bottle open and finish it off and then do the same the next day and maybe the next depending on how I felt and how busy I was - the L out of HALT. Now afer a couple of months of very reduced drinking and 5 weeks since my last drink it is easier for me to tell people I am not drinking and I don't wind myself up about what their reaction might be - it doesn't bother me at all now when it did not that long ago

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Thank you for all your supportive replies :o

Feel fresh this morning - at uni all day today so am raring to go.

Hubby reminded me he would be going out tonight, so I didn't get an invite but then I don't think he wants 'little miss boring' (he called me boring) round while him and his work mates get leathered. I'm not bothered...I know I sound bitter but it's not about the drinking at all, it's about relationship stuff, but that's another thing altogether lol.

Actually looking forward to having the place to myself, will have to check what's on TV tonight :D

Could I put myself forward for 15 AF days please (this includes the 5 I have already done)? I know this doesn't sound much but I want to be conservative at this stage until I'm feeling more confident with it all? Hope that's OK?

Hi Shaggy, sounds like a plan. What do I do?

I have been AF for 6 days now :T not planning on total abstinence but being careful when I do go out and drink.

And what does MAD mean? I need to get used to these abbreviations lol

Each month we pledge a number of days that we will try to be alcohol free (AFD = Alcohol free day). (I always pick 17 as it seems to be lucky for me :rotfl:) Some posters have no particular target; they are target free (TF).

    MAD = March Alcohol Detox..

    Welcome Aboard :)

  • I no longer think about drinking in the evening or any time. I never notice it in the supermarkets either as I have taught myself that its just `off limits` for me & thats that.

Are we twins? This is exactly what I've found too.

Before AFness, the amount I drank was a nasty little secret which I would have been embarrassed for people to know about. Now I've stopped, it just doesn't bother me to tell people I felt I was drinking too much and did something about it. It's a positive thing to say - shows I'm now in control of my own life.

Have a great MAD weekend all:T.

    Morning all

Lilith - ((Hugs)). As others have said, it sounds like your husband is in denial and is trying to encourage you to drink in order to justify his own drinking.

Well, appears to be lots of Aries on here....I'm going to break the mould and pronounce myself as an scorpio! Bit of a sting in my tail...hmmm...Mr P would probably agree with that!:rotfl:

Well done to everyone - doing so well on MAD. Keep it going!

Off to Mums this morning. We are going to have a quiet morning in doing sugarcraft whilst OH makes things with Piglet. Hope you all have a good Saturday!

    Miss P
    xx

ETA - forgot to say, we were talking about drinking last night as a couple of the drivers were laughing at pictures of themselves on facebook where they are completely hammered. One of the drivers said one of our foreign drivers, who is a lovely hardworking bloke during the day, drinks till he's sick and then carries on drinking! This really shocked me. What can he possibly be doing to his body!? He's only in his twenties and is generally very concious of his fitness and his health (goes to the gym, goes skiing, does watersports etc) so why does he have such a blind spot when it comes to alcohol? Very bizarre.

  • Good morning all. Beautiful sunny day here. I hope its the same wherever you are :)

AF last night so that's 3 for me please Shaggy.

Went to bed at 1;30 am but couldn't sleep. Feel like I've been wrestling all night! Still glad to be AF though and hopefully that will improve.

Feeling stronger than usual about not drinking over the weekend so I hope that keeps up. I'm off to the bottlebank this morning to destroy the evidence! We have recycling picked up here but can never put all bottles out in case neighbours see them . Plus ex OH coming to visit DSs.

Hope everyone has a great day. Your morning sounds lovely Miss P.
