  • Are we twins? This is exactly what I've found too.

Before AFness, the amount I drank was a nasty little secret which I would have been embarrassed for people to know about. Now I've stopped, it just doesn't bother me to tell people I felt I was drinking too much and did something about it. It's a positive thing to say - shows I'm now in control of my own life.

Have a great MAD weekend all:T.

Lilith - ((Hugs)). As others have said, it sounds like your husband is in denial and is trying to encourage you to drink in order to justify his own drinking.

This is what I was thinking, birds of a feather and all that...

Same thing happens when you quit smoking, smokers always try to tempt you back in the fold...'ah, go on, just one won't hurt' etc etc.

One is too many, a thousand never enough

One of the drivers said one of our foreign drivers, who is a lovely hardworking bloke during the day, drinks till he's sick and then carries on drinking! This really shocked me. What can he possibly be doing to his body!? He's only in his twenties and is generally very concious of his fitness and his health (goes to the gym, goes skiing, does watersports etc) so why does he have such a blind spot when it comes to alcohol? Very bizarre.

He is very probably also over the limit when he drives, is he a lorry driver
Went to bed at 1;30 am

What time did your kids get in DB?

THAT'LL BE 4 FOR ME PLEASE SHAGGY :D

Feel like utter carp today, my body is still racked with alcohol side effects and one evening's abstinence has not made any difference. Exhausted, mouth swollen and just want to lay down even though I've just had around 10 hours sleep

I'm detoxing today, currently sipping some hot water with slices of lemon, managed the first hour of the day quite well but now I need coffee. I have a feeling, and this I've never really thought about or noticed before, that I am addicted to coffee, I haven't had one yet and I can't get it out of my head. Do I have one or should I abstain? I really do enjoy a cup of coffee....

I intend to bump up the fruit and veggies over the next couple of days, no alcohol and decreased caffine (if I can't stop the coffee addiction :D).

Feel like crap, how long does it take to feel better.

He's a van driver and, as far as I'm aware, only goes out on the lash at weekends. They're pretty hot on that sort of thing at our place. We are all encouraged to look for signs of intoxication (from alcohol or "other" substances). As the majority of drivers know, its your livelihood and isn't worth losing. You do wonder though at what point that weekend drinking will creep into workdays and at what point it takes over your life?

Am sure you will feel better soon...you know from experience Jo that it takes a while? Hot water and lemon though? Bleugh!!!!!

Jo, I'm afraid I can't help you - I get a dreadful caffeine withdrawal headache by early afternoon if I don't get a cup of tea :( Good luck with the detox tho :)

Yeah, you're right, I got bad headaches when we were drinking decaffinated at work because someone had decanted the tins into a glass coffee jar and put the decaf in the non-decaf and vice-versa. For 2 evenings I was asleep in my chair by 8pm and had a headache all day and was considering going to the doctors when the mix-up became clear :D 2 cups of 'proper' coffee later and all was back to normal :)

Right off to make a cup of coffee, thanks for the very sensible advice HB :p

  • JO - DS1 in at 1:30 but and DS2 stayed over at friends.

Hugs -you sound like you need some.

Extra fruit and veg sounds good. Some extra vitamins perhaps too?
Lots of water too but have that coffee if you need one to get going this morning. Maybe cut down a bit on it in the day if you can. Do it
    gradually.
