BHB - view from said proposed house is here - house in view isnt' the one we've viewed - its about 1/4 mile away............

Not many trees - but then again they'd spoil the view?

PS Jo I have a foot spa - maybe I can use it - with your advice to rear some chicks? :) (PS anyone else reading I am joking!)

Steak and ale pie here - found a tub of stew ready prepared in the freezer from a while back and a packet of pastry - how many am I cooking for?.........

    hi all....

hope you're doing OK...bit flat today...stress I suppose...read a book about an ex-abuser and felt sad for them that they had so much going for them and were still empty.

empty is such a good way to describe the way I used to feel. I had no right to feel it because I'd got it into my head that theings weren't exactly as I wanted them. therefore it was a kind of sulk and frustrating....

so I drank because of my anger and justified it becuase it wasn't my fault...honest...

In my head was an undercurrent of "I need to do this to get through how tough things are for me"...well I know now that drinking just made things a hell of a lot tougher for everyone.

    take care

  • HI Bis
Thanks for the post - sorry to hear you feeling a bit flat - and I think you're right on the mark with justifying drinking

Drinking does just make it worse IMHO

Take care - always lovely when you pop past!

BHB - many schools - but mind on NO trees! Land and property here are relatively cheap compared with south - reflects the difficulties of living here and the cost associated with all of htat I suppose

I love it - OH hates it (well he doesnt hate it - he just doesnt want to live so remotely) - its prob why he's still south.

ALways plenty of room for visitors

And JO - stew is definitely beef and not PUFFIN...................

I;ve just made plum jam with manky plums
    and now doing some Kiwi!

You are all with me and Muse in the kitchen - its probably going to get a bit busy!

  • Hi all

mmm...pie! Am having veggie box soup, not so tempting. Anybody know what to do with salsify?

Lots of thoughtful posts recently, makes for good reading!

Went to a party last night. Took 4 beers, drank 2 and left 2 in the fridge. Didn't miss the last tube home, didn't walk miles in the wrong direction insisting I was going the right way, didn't fall asleep on the night bus, don't have a hangover today. Can't think why I used to do it. confused-smiley-013.gif

    ...nothing to see here...
  • Hey HS - Salsify - scrape and chop up then put in water quickly as they discolour - with some lemon juice or some vinegar - boil 20 mins - then a quick pan fry with butter? - Prsely and garlic can be used but not too much as it overpowers them

Tastes a bit like oysters - although I'm not convinced - I've grown them before :)

Sorry now I sound again like a geek as well!

Great to see you - well done on the AFD's 115k :)

No trees? ... It will be full of willow by the time we get there :D

Just noticed on your diary the cost of your fuel for the month :eek::eek::eek: ....... You definitely need to get that willow growing :rotfl:

I think ours would be nearly that if it wasn't for our free heating and hot water:)

Mrs BHB and I would LOVE the isolation !!!!! So would the kids .... so please don't tempt me any more or you might have us as neighbours......

I guess the more isolated you are the less chance you have of popping down the offy for a sneaky bottle?

    BHB

    :) indeed :)

Lots of schools here as we've 2 high schools and about 12 primary schools? or someat like that - fuel costs are crippling - but there's rough with the smooth eh?

Services here are amazing due to oil revenue from the North Sea (among other things) also hardly any unemployment

    ANyway back to the cooking

I now have used up the last of the tomato canons (frozen whole tomatoes from the freezer) in a gigantic pot of ratatouie - pie made, jam's been sampled - DD says its up to scratch

ANd HM custard with something for pud - I found half doz egg yolks (chicken egg yolks - Jo...) in my freezer so making custard too :)
Greenhouse is a bit manky looking must get on to that soon - :)

Maybe I shoudl be cooking during my bells o clock as I lvoe cooking?
