Actually, I have a bit of a thing to say on the drinking front.

Mine is back to as bad as it was when I started on here last August. I can't say I don't want to drink as I'd be lying but I can say I am tired of the effect it's having on my appearance, my waistline & my purse *rollseyes* Undoubtedly my health as well, but ti's worrying how easy is is to ignore that one :o

I'm happy to have a drink or few with friends when doing things. I just also want to get back to enjoying my own compny without alcohol being automatic.

So I've decided for March that I'm going for 20 days AF. I know this isn't a massive total for some, however it is huge for me. I've never made a target on a month since joining :o

My reasoning on 20 days is that I have 3 weekends of being away (one being my birthday weekend) plus a potential night out with work & friends. That means I'm looking at have a few drinks socially in the month, just not cracking open a bottle of wine every night or thereabouts the rest of the time.

It is going to be very tough so I'm going to need you guys...

Right, Oprah-esque moment over, I'm off for a bath :D

  • neeps=swedes - they are the things that look like turnips but have a neck

    turnips dont have necks

(in real life I'm not kidding - that's how farmers ID between the two as a crop)

We discussed this at work a couple weeks ago - it was hilarious - but its right

one plant has the leaves straight from the root bit that you eat - the other one has a stalk with leaves on (a neck)

SO your botany lesson for today is that swedes have necks, turnips don't

(I just think OK swedes long and beautifully necked like the people)

Oh I know I'm going to suffer for this one!

I'd like to join you if I may please.

Fay - I enjoyed your explanation of the differences between swedes and turnips. I moved to England to discover they swapped round! I'm seeing the Swede as the Swan of the turnip world now with its long neck!

I've just rushed through reading all posts since last night as had to queue for the PC today.

Well done to PIR and castri09 and eveyone else who is doing so well. :T
Jo - amazing that you lost 4 stone with WW and better still, you have kept it off. I'm sure what you say is absolutely right and it is no good stopping eating. I have just rejoined WW. Need to lose more than 4 stone though. And yes you made a big lifestyle change and stuck to it.

I really also appreciated your wise words re alcohol as a friend. Most of my drinking is done on my own. I can go out and not drink but find it much harder to stay in and not drink.I will confess though that I sometimes go out then drink when I get home.
Oh- my veg curry was home made and the spicy sausages are from Asda.
Beef, coriander and pepper. Went quite well together.

Anyway, Fay I think you are right about keeping hands busy with something to do.
I managed an AF Friday and Saturday mainly due to this thread so felt great about that this morning. Couldn't quite believe it actually.

I don't know if anyone else might share this experience but I told an old friend about how much my drinking was worrying me and she doesn't seem to accept that it is a much of a problem.

It made me appreciate more than ever the people on here who do understand.
