I'm sorry WelshAngel- I'd like to be clear I haven't read the disagreement you talk about and was not accusing you personally of anything. I was talking generally and apologise for any misunderstanding.
I was talking about how people see things. The thread is about people who take pleasure in being nasty. Perhaps I'm wrong but I think very few people actually do that.0 -

You may find it sad that people get upset at words, but you have no idea of their background/mental health therefore you have no idea how the words will affect them.
Thanks
Thats my point though, what seemed rude to you, seemed like blunt straight forward advice and an opinion to me. You believe you reacted in a calm manner I think you were dramatic and became defensive. Everyones views on something is going to be different. If you were chatting to that person face to face you would be able to tell by their tone of voice if it was meant to be rude or not. With an internet forum your reading text which has no tone and can very easily be misinterpreted or taken in the way you think its beng made. Sometimes it is someone being plain rude other times its just blunt advice with a little sarcasm.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Okay, this is the type of reply I was talking about. here the poster has taken the time and trouble just to be sarky:Obviously you cannot operate a basic spell checker, so that would immediately cast doubts on any other computer skills that you may have.:)
and there's many more.0 -

Yes, sorry, That's the thing, as others have said it's really hard on a forum to understand just what is behind the words.
I think I will have to try ad not take things to heart as much. I've been trying 30 years so I'll not hold my breath :-DLong Haul number 207 :j
Back on the train again after a monumental bad time in my life..... :T0 -

The think that really frustrates me is when posters don't spell check, use txt speak or don't use sentences / paragraphs, so I can see where Inactive is coming from ...

So, we've all got to have a degree in English to post. So that excludes the majority of people having equal rights.
No, it's just being judgemental, that's what it boils down to.0 -
What does annoy me is that someone can't reply to your thread about something and yet can find the time to send a rude personal message about being a 'troll' and 'stretching the truth to make people feel sorry for you', as I had last week. I have forwarded the message to the relevant MSE people.
You can't always get on with everyone in life and it's inevitable that on a forum like this, there will be very different perspectives given and different judgements made about people's situations but it is unfortunate there is a very small minority who feel they are justified to make comments to people's PM boxes because they want to.
If people who want to go down this route, can't say what they say in a PM, out on the forum, then why bother? Why waste your time in writing it, if you don't like what someone says in a post, ignore it, there is no forced posting button (well not that I have found yet!).
In the main though, I have found people helpful and very willing to share knowledge and experience.0
