I use taggits, following a recommendation on here:) ..http://www.iron-on-labels.co.uk/types.html - part way down the page... I also use just the surname, and our phone number :)

I use the iron on sort from out local uniform shop. THey aren't expensive and are brilliant!

Just a little plea which is not money saving I know, but my parents did this and got hundreds of labels with X.......Y on for folding and sewing.

Might have been money saving, and I didn't mind, being the eldest and 1st on the label, but my sis hated it terribly- for the sake of a few quid it is worth treating your children as equals in something that may be really significant to them....

BTW you don't really need as many labels as you'd imagine, my parents despite labelling socks/pants/vest as well as outer wear still have the flippin labels:rotfl: (and I am 41 now!!). THey are now folding both ends under and labelling their own coats/hats etc and if they ever go into a home we'll be OK:rotfl: (or if Dad looses all his marbles he'll be able to read his label for his name!).

I have three kidz and the advantage of an unusual surname. When my youngest was 3 and went to playgroup I ordered 600 with surname only. More than a dedcade later I'm still stitching in them in and have maybe 100 left. LOL

My children are 11, 10 and 5 and I have just finished 120 surname only labels - which I'd been using since the oldest started nursery. (Had even unpicked some from outgrown clothes and reused). DS1 is going to senior school in September so I decided he probably needed his full name his labels and have just ordered some more. I just googled for a company at random and ended ordering them 75 sew in labels each and forty shoe labels for around £15.

There was the opportunity to select a little picture on the label which only the five year old took. Her new label takes an age to sew in as she also had her middle name so has "cat picture xxxxxxxxx xxxx xxxxxx".

The children were all really pleased to get their own full name on a label and now I'll instantly know which of the boys' uniforms is which without also having to check the size label so I would say its worth getting the individual names done. Could be a bit of a pain if we hand anything down between siblings, but my children tend to trash things anyway!

DD is due to start school after the summer and thinking ahead, I'm going to have to label all her clothes, shoes etc.

Has anyone used any company that they could recommend and also did they think they were good value for money ?

    Many thanks

I've used these for years - I'm afraid I don't have the patience to sew labels on! These are iron on transfers, not iron on labels - the letters are ironed straight onto the fabric.

Not sure how they compare moneywise, but for me the option of saving a couple of quid versus 10 secs to iron one on wins for me every time!!

I bought some sew in embroidered ones from eBay... Best thing about them is I've just unpicked all the ones out of her smaller uniform and am sewing them into her next size up stuff... Probably never have to buy any more again!

Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
