i just got them from ebay, and i could tell them, how many of each name i wanted.
ps, if you do have another baby, make sure it has a same initial as one of your other children, so no more labels

i always had the sew on ones as a kid - but i was the younger child so my name was always after the surname........... and i remember thinking it was unfair that i always went 'last'. clearly i didn't have many other things to complain about!

If you get the sew on type then avoid the "satin" type ones - I can't remember what web-site it got them from but I thought it would be a good idea as they were like the labels already in the clothes iykwim. Didn't last five minutes though as they got all freyed and fell off so I had to order some proper cotton ones and re-did them!!
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again

You can buy laundry marking pens, with permanent ink that doesn't wash out.
I found it's quicker, cheaper and easier writing their names on the size labels, and in obvious places like the insides of collars. Here I go again on my own....0 -

LOL that's what I did all our sons have the same initial (seemed like a good idea at the time!). However with DS1 was still in the motherhood glow and had full name including middle initial, so there's no moneysaving there!0 -

The ones I bought all washed out after about six washes. Since dd's school sweatshirt has lasted three years I needed something a bit longer lasting.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Cash's embroidered name tapes are by far the best. My mum still has some with my name on (30+ years old). I bought a lot for each of my children. I chose a different colour for each child so that I can quickly identify the correct school jumper or whatever. You can of course take the labels off and reuse them. My eldest is nearly 12 and I still have lots of unused labels with his name on.
My younger 2 are also called Thomas and Katherine (Tom and Katie)
I recommend Cash's sticky labels too for lunch boxes and shoes

I just use a black marker pen, stays on the lables for ever, can't be doing with all the sewing lables onto clothes that they will only be wearing for 4 months or so0

I spent ages last summer neatly sewing in labels onto clothes. i so wish i had just used a pen as Becles has suggested. Also, as the teacher pointed out, if someon does wish to nick your kid's jumper, they just cut out the sewn label - if you use the special pens you can buy and write on the item (not just the label) then it is less easy to nick. So positive of the teacher.....0
