Fresh mobile closing

I have just had a text from Fresh informing me of their service closure. Looking around I found this thread. I have 3 mobiles on Fresh PAYG. All are light users probably pay less than £50 a year for all 3. Talk mobile tariffs look much higher, so I don't want to phone them at my expense to migrate. Are there any comparison sites that look at PAYG sim only rates? (at least 2 of the mobiles are unlocked). Across the 3 phones I have about £20 credit which I want back if they are no longer prepared to provide the service I have paid for. I think atm I will not argue with them about that untill I have new sims from another network in my hand. I'm really not happy about the time scale of this and their expectation of me agreeing new tariffs and conditions over the phone, it is complicated enough when you have time to try to read them. Anyone got anymore advice about how to proceed?0

I hung up after 15 mins ringing this 020 number presumably in London. We have decided to try to use some of the credit up then sling the sim cards and get what we can for the phones locked to the T-Mobile network on EBAY. Carphone Warehouse treat their customers like dirt. Will never entetrtain them ever again.thanks - i tried ringing the free helpline but was kept hanging on to a recorded message for 20 mins - then I gave up - will have another go.
Thanks again to everyone for all the advice and help.0 -
3 do a very cheap sim only deal something like £7pm with free calls and texts. You can buy a good 3 phone on ebay for £15-£20.I'm one of those people which is why I went for fresh in the first place - the 5p texts on pay as you go - I spend less than £10 a month and only very rarely use the phone for actual phone calls, just for texting. I think after fresh is no longer I might go to Tesco pay as you go as that looks quite good. any one got any opinions or know of a better pay as you go for texts?0

Just checked on 3 they do 100 mins unlimited text for £10pm or 300 mins unlimited text for £12pmI have just had a text from Fresh informing me of their service closure. Another disgruntled customer here!!!! I'm PAYG
So this is what I'm thinking of doing.
Apply for the Talkmobile SIM, use up the "Free" credit they are going to give me. Then ask for my pac code, take my phone number and move elsewhere.
Will this work ? or is there something buried in the terms stopping me from taking my number if I do it this way?
Thanks0 -
Just checked on 3 they do 100 mins unlimited text for £10pm or 300 mins unlimited text for £12pm
Thanks but I want to stay PAYG - I don't spend £10 a month on all 3 phones together. Depending on the phones you have you may be able to unlock them to use any sim. I think phones are locked to the provider not the network ie to Fresh not T-mobile.0 -
I believe the new Talk Mobile is a contract which they will get you to sign so you are tied to them regardless? My advice is use up the credit if possible then go elsewhere. 3 do a cheap contract of £10pm 100mins unlimited tex or £12 for 300 mins and unlimited text. Might be other deals out there to suit the individual's needs. I've got 2 Fresh (T-Mobile network) phones that can't be unlocked so got to flog em both on ebay.Another disgruntled customer here!!!! Problem I have is that PAYG suits me as I use less than £5 a month on calls and I don't really text people.
I really just need to know if I can still take my number elsewhere- after I've tried out the new service.0 -

I think what you've said is a good idea once you've used the Talkmobile £5 when you've used that up move on to...

Cheapest PAYG at the moment seems to be ASDA, Tesco and Giffgaff - 8P for calls and 4P for texts.
