  • You can get your PAC via text message if you type your current number into one of the boxes on this page; just make sure you select "Click here to opt out" to reveal the correct section. It's probably best to do this after you get your new SIM, but before you put it in the phone.

I'm new to this but it has helped me a bit - I've been on fresh for about 3 years and I only use my phone for texting for which they are really cheap. I have about £100 worth of credit on the phone which I'm never going to use by the end of march and feel very bitter about not being able to get a refund. Can anyone else offer advice? - I wouldn't mind if it was only a few pounds but £100 is a lot. Also, why when I did they not tell me about all this when the last lot of credit went on a the end of January? - It all seems very very unfair.
  • If you've got a lot of credit on Fresh Mobile then I'd call customer services and get a refund as others have done on previous threads

    Fresh Mobile.......0870 111 5000
0800 0490800.......Fresh Mobile services also via Carphone Warehouse Customer services

To transfer your number from Fresh you can opt out on the talkmobile co uk / fresh website and get sent a PAC code and give that to your new provider, I'd make sure you move your number before 19March

I opted in on the web to get a Talkmobile SIM with free credit on it for transferring (it says at least £5 free credit on the web) I got sent a code F000015 which was a £15 credit which made up for the £3 I lost and they moved the number a few days after I got it without me doing anything

I've looked into it and ocntrary to other posts Talkmobile rates are actually pretty good, it's a bit complicated and i don't like the names but when you opt into the rewards the rates get much better, with chatterbox it works out at about 8p per minute for UK calls, or you can get unlimited texts on textmania and international calls on globetalker work out as low as 3p per minute to USA, France etc

and I've checked, you don't lose topup credit after 90 days, you just need to make a call or send a text every 90 days to keep the SIM live

As a total mobile phone novice - what happens when I get the PAC code? does my fresh connection automatically end then or does it wait for the new provider to do something?
I've been looking around and the Tesco deal seems quite good with cheap texts - but I'm still cross that I'll loose all my credit on Fresh.

If you were leaving a network at your choice not theirs, you would be given the PAC code and 30 days to use it. If you didn't use it by then, the disconnection request would expire and you would continue with your existing arrangements.

In this case 30 days is moot because Fresh is closing down.

I personally would use the PAC code right away because if you use it near the end of the 30 day period, you cannot account for any unforeseen delays.

Sorry can't help on your credits issue, but I have seen others recommend call fresh customer service and asking nicely if you can get your money back. No obligation on them, but no harm in trying.

In terms of the PAC code when I was leaving an orange contract about 4 years ago to go to Easymobile, it took Easymobile almost the full 30 days to make the change.

I see lots of people on here saying their change was done in a couple of days.

Don't assume that things will go that smoothly for you.

A few years ago it used to take 1 or 2 weeks to port your number to another network. They the mobile companies have to and do transfer numbers in two days once you have given the new mobile network your PAC number.

I've never understood the appeal of these mickey mouse virtual service providers - they're not that cheap when compared to the big providers and their "top up £x and get y texts and ..." such as O2's online deal.

Those of you with £100s of credit on such SIMs are also surely negating any saving you make on the odd text by having such an amount of credit tied up.
