Yes thanks I have done that. After googling my phone's name, it does appear to be dual band.
Vodafone Operate on both 900/1800 bands so it wouldnt have mattered if your phone is dual or single band.
  • I don't understand why you would want to use Talkmobile as Tesco, Asda and Giffgaff are much cheaper!
  • Hi, They never explained that I would lose existing credit. My number transfers tomorrow so I have 12 hours to use £6.42 worth of credit. Think I will phone my own house number and leave it connected until it runs out.

I am going to request a PAC code and move to Tesco

I was going to to switch to talkmobile till I read their T's & C's.

I will say now I am not a lawyer, but my reading of them suggested clauses where talkmobile wanted nothing to do with you.

That doesn't impress me so am looking at an alternative like Asda.
  • Hi,

I have been with Fresh (from Carphonewharehouse) for 3 years with a PAYG tariff.

Fresh/CPW have decided to close Fresh down, maybe not enough profit? They CPW have offered me an 'upgrade' ie costs more, if I transfer to Talkmobile (from the CPW!) however doing this means I lose ALL my existing £22 credit with Fresh because crucially they won't allow me to transfer the balance even though it's their decision to close down Fresh.

    Anyone else in this position?

The only reason I racked up that much credit was because of a 90 day top up or we close your service rule.

I have e-mailed Fresh complaining and an auto response promises a reply within 4 working days.
fresh@cpw.co.uk if you want to contact them.

Anyway looks like it's ASDA mobile for me from now on!

    Would like a refund though....................

    It gets worse.

Once CPW and TT demerge, TT are talking about launching a new mvno, for which they've been setting up bidding from main networks for some time.

I forgot to say, I went to local Carphonewharehouse and specifically asked if my Fresh credit would be transferred to Talkmobile and she assured me three times that it would.

I then went to Talkmobile website Fresh transfer page put in my mobile number and code to get £5 'free' credit and ticked the terms and conditions box and continue button. It was only then that the box appeared stating I would receive a SIM in the next 7 days and any credit unused on the Fresh tariff would be lost, contrary to what the shop assistant said (surprise!?) and a con because it should have been upfront information available BEFORE commiting myself and agreeing to be transferred to Talkmobile.

Of course I could phone Fresh's 0870 helpline; that would probably use up most of my existing credit.

Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
  • Thanks for the freefone number it works!

Just phoned Fresh customer support. On hold for 12 minutes, two minute conversation, then cut off (on purpose?)!

Tried again, 8 minute on hold, different operator; stated my case again. He agreed to make a refund of all my balance as credit to use in store. I asked for a cheque. He agreed to this but it takes 30 days from last use, less any credit used in meantime before I transfer, or not, to Talkmobile.

Result. So as long as they do what they say I get my £21.46 credit refunded as a cheque after 30 days.

So any other Fresh mobile customer on PAYG with large amount of credit you don't want to lose phone Fresh on 0800 0490800, option 0 and ask for your money back!
  • Hi there, I'm new so unsure of the protocol on this site (apologies if this message is not right). Fresh mobile are closing on 19th March and recommending I move to Talkmobile or I'll lose unused credits/£. I don't want to go to Talkmobile but I reckon I'll lose about £15. Can they just take this money? Thanks
Great site, pleased to be part of this community.
