I had a pretty bad car crash in April 2001. I didnt brake any bones but I damaged my nervous system (not the main one i cant remember the name sorry).
I had an awful time getting compensated as I was in (and still am) a lot of pain. It took about 5 years for the money to come through and because I was too stupid to keep track of all the money I forked out in accupunture/heat pads/heat lamps/trips to see specalists/etc I probably only broke even. I got 6k which thanks to the delay went as a deposit for my flat.
Anyway my point is that at least if the money is delayed a bit, it will give you a chance to pay more off your debt so you can keep more of the compensation and use it for something more positive (ie savings or a holiday) rather than paying it off debts.
I hope that makes sense!
Good luck sorting it out as I know how awfull it is! I hope your injuries clear up! I tried everything but I found that a good accupunturist worked the best although not cheap.Debt Free - done

Ooh, will be thinking about you having "serious chat" with the family. I hate them because you know they are just sitting there thinking "here she goes again.....!"Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes.
