Home made toad in the hole with mash, using potatoes we had left since closing for 3 weeks, homemade sausages from freezer, home made yorkies, and a free sample of gravy stock!
Have managed 2 weeks so far with leftovers since we closed, but getting tight now, and put on weight!

It was soup and puddin' night. h/m lentil and leftover veg soup, w/m bread, custard and tinned steamed pudding. Our oven is broken so I can't bake at the moment, but soup n pudding night is usually our cheapest meal.

    It's only me, so ...

    Baked potato (74p/4 = 18.5p)
Half a tin of ASDA SP baked beans (19p/2 = 9.5p)
    Half bag of salad (50p/2 = 25p)

A warm, healthy, filling but not fattening meal for the princely sum of 53p.

And it will be the same again, to use up the other half of the salad and beans, tonight.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

Curry made using lamb leftover from roast on Sunday, a sad courgette, some baby spinach that is well past its date but still ok, and a jar of jalfrezi sauce that has been at the back of the cupboard for a long time. Rice. Quite nice. I suppose it is moneysaving to eventually use the jar, and the sad veggies, but the lamb was definitely not cheap.

  • Tonight we're having home-reared Gloucester Old Spot pork. This was free, as we take our food growing money from the "Hobbies" budget rather than "Housekeeping" :p

We have an existing thread on Meal plans, so I'll add this to that later.

  • Enchiladas - the chilli inside was made from leftover bolognaise mince from Sunday, wrapped in a bogof pack of tortillas. Topped with HM tomato sauce, sliced tomatoes and cheese - yummy and filling.
