Smashing Blouse, so sorry to hear about your Nan :sad:Bulletproof0

I've been gardening on and off most of the day, interspersed with washing and ironing ( just for a bit of a rest ) Now I need to rant!! Somewhere over the back from me there's a family who have not stopped nagging their little boy!! He doesn't sound very old, perhaps 4?, and he's obviously got too hot and overtired. Over the course of the day he's got wingier and wingier. Now I've had four kids and I know this can drive you mad but you have to deal with it. Both Mum and Dad are now shouting at him, using the most foul language and he's crying and their screaming at him to shut his ********* gob! Now I haven't heard them smack him or anything but it's so upsetting to hear this torrent of verbal abuse!! If I could get at them Billy would be eligible for the orphan's picnic!! Why do people have children if they're not prepared to put up with childish behaviour. He needs cooling down and preferably a nap. Sorry to rant at you lot but I'm here on my own and I need to express this. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

SmashingBlouse - I'm sorry to hear the news about your Nan. Her suffering is over but I know it's still hard for everyone to accept. I'm glad she met and knew your little ones, that would have made her so happy in her final years.
taplady - congratulations on doing the Race for Life. I did something similar but shorter a few years ago and it's definitely so much harder in the searing heat, so good for you for having finished it!
Moggins...Donny?! Do you mean Donny Osmond. Oh Swoon! I think he's lovely:happyhear! The first man I ever fell in love with (he was 14 and I was about eight or nine and until I saw him I thought that all boys were toads!). A few years ago I went to the Graham Norton show - his guest (and he never announces in advance who the guest would be) was Rod Stewart...he was interesting and did a wee sing song but I definitely slept well that night. The next evening I watched the Graham Norton show to see who was in *my* seat and the guest was Donny Osmond. Oh I was nearly sick, nearly in tears, pulling my hair out, gnashing my teeth, why oh why oh why did me and my friend Lucy decide to go on the Monday rather than on the Tuesday:mad::rotfl:Am still kicking myself.
AussieLass - aha is a Norwegian 80's pop band, they sang "Take On Me" which got to No1 in the UK, and had that video which looked like pencil sketches which came to life. But who cares about the music, the lead singer is still a big sexy hunk!!!
Hardup Hester...think I'd have stamped my feet and insisted that the unpopular and popular days are shared equally, I don't buy into the arguement that seniority, long service, blah blah blah means somebody else should get the leftover cr*p. Sorry that's not very helpful, but you'll know for next year.
Right must go and do something...
See you later!

Haven't done a lot today. Did make some individual apple pies and the man in charge said that they were about an 8 out of 10. Would have been better if it came with some ice cream. He's now asking for me to try to do the same with some gooseberries. So far I have 10 apple pies left....but doubt that they will be around for very long. However, have left the kitchen in a suitable mess for OH to clear up....well only fair....I make goodies, he eats them and cleans up the mess hehehehe
Bean's been wriggling today...always makes me smile. However, I'm sure before long I'll be telling the 'little darling' to keep still.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
Churchmouse - totally agree with you. I'd find it hard to be quiet as well. It must be as plain as day that all the effing and blinding in the world isn't going to get the little boy to settle down. I'm not even a parent and even I can figure that out. Have you got an ice lolly or something you could pass over to them? At least that would let them know they are being heard, and you could say something like "oh he looks/sounds so tired".0

Bargain Rzl, Penny-Pincher, Churchmouse and Katgoddess in case you don't know, there's now a "Sportsworld" outlet at Crayford (in the Tower retail park, next to Pets at Home.) DS got himself a posh pair of trainers for £10.49 yesterday, so thought I'd just mention it!
That's just down the road from me. I brought a pair of very posh Karrimor walking boots in there for 20 quid a couple of weeks ago. What with the Next Clearance store that's just opened in Dartford I am very happy. Haven't had to dip into my sales savings pot yet this year either. All I need now is a proper Monsoon Clearance store.
I made some of the weetabix chocolate brownies today. Very yummy. They reminded me more of flapjacks that brownies though...?Might be brave enough to make some to take into work next Sunday for the stocktaking. We had various members of nightstaff stealing pallet loads from Wines and Spirits over the last year so it has to be done again.
P.S Anyone want half price Vodka?0 -
SnowyOwl, if I could see I would. The houses at the back of me have been converted into flats and the gardens divided up. They're diagonally along from me somewhere, but I don't know where. Shielded by some trees and enormous privets.
They must know they can be heard since they're shouting at the top of their voices! Actually it's gone quiet now and I've been listening out. Mum has just called to someone, (another neighbour?) " he's cried himself to sleep, the little b*gger "
Sorry for ranting but I was crying with anger and frustration! Seems a bit feeble now:oYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -
not feeble at all churchmouse seems you werent the only one bothered by it0

Makes me wonder why some people bother to have kids at all, if they only listened to them for 2 minutes they would be able to work out what was wrong
Snowy I do indeed mean Donny Osmond - I went to see him in concert at Warwick Castle about 2 years ago and I was right in the front row. He smiled directly at me and all the other women were dead jealous. That was a day I will remember alwaysOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
