Shez - thing is, posted about the trousers on here, then went out and cleaned the window. Young lad walks past and says helo - and then I realised why he was smirking - I'm off to turn them now!

thanks for link to catowen cake recipe will try that later.

It could have been worse, you could have had one of those "skirt tucked in your knickers" sagas, where everyones looking at your backside!:rotfl:

Kaz, thanks for two of the best laughs I've had today. Lets just say the old knicks are in great danger of being slightly damp!!!:T :rotfl:

Kaz - yep, that's the one. It doesn't taste of carrots (what carrot cake does?) but is delicious. I made mine with light brown instead of dark brown sugar as it was what I had in the cupboard. ... As for my own cookery plans, I have changed my mind about the rocket risotto and am going to do a big batch of chilli con carne (picked up a packet of fresh red chillis reduced to 20p in Tesco yesterday). So have just been out to Elsey & Bent for a big bunch of fresh coriander. I still need some other ingredients, e.g. toms & kidney beans, and I'm pretty sure I only have just over half a kilo of mince in the freezer, while the recipe needs 1kg. Also I'm running a bit low on wine, especially stuff to cook with (let's just say that while I do live by the rule that if I wouldn't drink it I wouldn't cook with it either, I object to spending £5 a bottle and then pouring £3 worth of it into my dinner!) so thought I might have a look for some cheapie/special offer bottles in Tescos while their 20% off 6 bottles is still going ... Still need to make that rocket risotto though, while the rocket is still fresh ... might see if I can do both tonight, the trouble is that my "risotto pan" is the same pan I do chilli in, being my ONLY large pan ... I'm not going to be around in the evenings until Tuesday, so need to cook as much as possible for the freezer ... Actually, might have time to do the risotto for Saturday lunch ... hmmm ... I think that's more likely! ... I've also picked up a bag of nice ripe baby tomatoes for £1, so just need some basil and can do some lovely salads with my Lidl mozzarella ... Right, even though thinking about cooking is much more fun than thinking about work, I really have to get off here now and get stuff done ... Will try to catch you this evening ... Rzl xx

    Smashing Blouse - :j :j Happy Birthday!! :j :j

Kaz - sorry but ... :rotfl: :rotfl: bless ya heart ;) ((hugs))

moggins - ((hug)) I know just what you mean about giving up smoking due to the cost and then any potential savings being absorbed elsewhere!! It certainly would challenge *anyone's* resolve. Thing is, if financial reasons were your primary motivation for stopping smoking, then *any* unplanned expenditure is going to act like the Nic-O-Teen Devil on your shoulder enticing you back into the realms addiction. Now, if you were motivated by health reasons ... you may find you are more determined in your resolve. Just as you are reviewing the reconstruction surgery because you feel you were acting from the wrong motivation, the same is true of your resolve to be smoke free. I know you can do it! You have already survived and overcome the enormous challenge of the mastectomy with little or no choice, so empowering yourself by becoming smoke free through choice, although a challenge, should be something you can achieve if you take things one step at a time! You did make me chuckle with your earlier confession, like Kaz said, print that off and use it as a motivational tool. You are going to do GREAT! Dh buying the Ipod is *not* a reflection on you, or your willpower .. it's a reflection on men/boys and their toys - he clearly does not have the same level of willpower that *you* have - hence why we are the one's of the species who were deemed best suited to the task of giving birth ;)

Bargain - I know you had the quail at a restaurant as treat, but I was hoping that maybe you might have remembered how it was described on the menu? E.g. was it roasted/in a sauce? I have a couple of quail recipes already and several for the eggs, just wondered how it was served :D Did you enjoy it? What did it taste similar to, chicken?

Shez - thanks for copying out the recipe for tootles cake :D

tootles - now you've got me all curious!!! Do tell what you have planned for tomorrow (I'm a very impatient person  ) Pretty please?

Aril - Ah, your sacrifice on the Maltesers front while you checked out the acting standard of Mssrs. Depp and Bloom are appreciated ... well, more so if you would spill the beans!! :rotfl: How was it? Should I splurge and take my Princes off to see them too? Maybe I should go and have a drool .. er .. inspection of my own, for research purposes of course! Ooooh, sardine burgers sound yummy - do you have a recipe? My lads have developed a liking for pilchards/sardines since I told them it is 'brain' food with lashing of Omega 3 ... adding burgers as a variation can only be a good thing :D:D
troo - hoping your day as progressed from blah to ahh!

Spendless - I probably shouldn't .. but your topless post did give me a chuckle

Aussielass - Aww, I lurve them at that age, into everything!! Looking forward to seeing the pix of dgs haircut - how did he cope with it? My youngest used to scream the place down right up until he was 4yo, yet he could fall and really hurt himself and not even whimper!

elona - ((hugs)) Just take each day as it comes. ((hugs))

Chipps - best of luck for ds for his exam tomorrow - fingers X'd for you both!

Pooky - You should like you have a lovely "Me Day" planned :D Enjoy it!!!
culpepper - your harvest sounds enviably scrummy!! *drooling*

jan59 - hey, :T well done you on your packed lunch organisation!! Honey is very good for you, heard it is even prescribed these days!! The fashion show evening sounds like a fun night out, glad you enjoyed it :D:D (OS isn't about depriving ourselves of a jolly-up ;) )

Snowy - well done on getting some of your papermountain sorted :T Ok, so it wasn't the FL you had planned but, at least you can X it off your to-do list now ;):D

Well, my day hasn't turned out anything at all how I planned it!! :rotfl: :o

Began well, right up until I'd taken d10yo and dropped him off .. nipped to Asda (fatal! Got sidetracked, see below), then shot off to M&S and TK Maxx then got a phone call from dh, ended up going out for lunch and a long discussion about cars and the up and coming expenses; didn't spoil the lunch out though, it was lovely! ... then it was decided he would go to the school and the running about afterwards - I've been made redundant until 8pm!!!! Well, that should mean that I'm getting on with other stuff, right? Er ... nopey! I've had a lovely sit in the garden, there's a gorgeous breeze, read some magazines (my hairdreser is such a sweetie, he saves all the glossy's for me; he gets rid of them and I get them free, so we're both winners :) ) Oooh, it's nice to be slovenly every now and again, I think the rot has set in for the rest of the day now :o :rotfl:

Recieved my Apple Blossom and Lime Zest Bold freebie in the post. Oh and I did my "good deed for the day" today while I was in Asda ... a very mature lady picked up a bag of Soda Crystals and I overheard her say to her dh "I think this might do it, coz there's a picture on the front. What do you think, luv?" ... well, not backward in coming forward, I did the "Excuse me, don't wish to intrude but ... " thing. Crikey! Talk about avid listeners!!! They were brilliant, not offended and completely sold on the idea of using soda crystals for 1001 different uses. Then, I worried I'd been too forward ... but, when they'd walked away abit, I heard her say, "How lovely! There's some good tips there *and* we'll save money!" :j Another convert, methinks  Shame they didn't have internet ... but, they did ask me to write down MSE web addy so they can give it to their son and daughters who do :rotfl:

Ah well, back to the patio? Or the sofa? or surf a bit more .. gosh, choices, choices! ;)

(Well so much for only coming on here three times a day :D:o) Queenie - the quail was served whole, with snails (:D) - yes, it was quail 'n' snail :D - and finely chopped bacon tossed into a leafy salad (don't remember the leaves, I'm afraid :o) ... The flavour was a bit richer and deeper than (decent) chicken.

Thanx BR ... I feel a day trip to France coming on to grab a bag of snails :rotfl: Sounds an interesting dish!

 'Quail n Snail' sounds a lush improvement on the 80's "Surf n Turf"

:o Sorry, don't want to distract you from w*rk , I'll be :silenced: on the subject now :o
