What fun I'm going to have over the next 2 days.... United Utilities will be switching the water off Thursday (8-12) and then Friday (8-6pm)! DD is going to have to shift her bottom these two days to get washed etc for school. Thinking about it, I might fill the bath up and put a jug up there so I can carry on using the toilet (ala Aunty Mabel in Come Outside :rotfl: ) and as long as they don't switch the school's water off I should be fine with just a couple of bottles filled up. If they do switch the schools water off I'm going to have to fill pans as well as DD will be home  It would also result in her concert being rescheduled for another day

Oh well, off to do the washing up

    hello!

been to town to pick up the prescriptions I put in yesterday. She told be to come back in 20 mins. Of course I forgot :rotfl:

I have some left over mash in the fridge. I want to make 'potato cakes'. I seem to remember my mother making them, think she used egg & flour & then fried them off We used to have them on a Monday with the left over roast or fried eggs. Was yummy. So how do I make them then?! Anyone got a recipe or a link to one!

Its been raining here a bit but its still sooo humid (Southend).

OMG, you're not going to believe how behind the times I am! I've only just signed up to Quidco! I've never really bothered to look at it before, but someone on DFW said they bought some train tickets via Quidco. I use thetrainline.com loads, so decided to take the plunge. Must get into the habit of using it regularly, especially to pay for work things which I get reimbursed through my expenses anyway. I already get "free" Clubcard/Nectar points through work when I fill up with petrol, as well as M&S points for paying for everything work related on M&S credit card. Maybe I should look upon this as a virtual payrise!
I also discovered https://www.underfivepounds.com this week for bargain shopping; there's even a fold up wally trolley for £2.99 :D

Afternoon all (a bit late today) (((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) )))) to those who need them espceially PP hope you feel better soon.

We were going into the market this morning when it came over very black and started to thunder, so I chickened out and we went to the local market for veg and Tesco for fruit, the rain has cooled things down quite a bit and there is a nice breeze blowing. Unfortunately I spent more than I would have done had we gone to the market, but as it started chucking it down whilst we were in there I don't fee so bad. Apparently a large area of the City is suffering from power cuts as the lightening struck a power cable.

Enjoy the rest of the day.......................

We were late waking up this morning it was almost 8.45 before we surfaced........maybe something to do with the heat??????

Nothing really planned for today, we are suffering a bit from caravan withdrawal........we do miss the van, in the summer we would have been off for the weekend most weekends..........

We have picked a bowl of strawberries today also raspberries and tayberries, so the freezer is filling up. I made strawberry ice-cream, we have yet to try it but I did lick the spoon and it tasted great.

    HI guys

Actually came on for a bit of a hug since I've just had ANOTHER screaming row with the OH about money. Our wages get paid by cheque dated the last day of the month. So of course, because the cheque only cleared today, we've had literallly no money since last Wednesday.

I wrote out a budget for this month, and gave it to him to read last week since whenever we talk about money we end up argueing. He said nothing so I thought he was OK about it. This morning before he went out, I asked him if he knew how much he had to take out of the bank in cash to pay back a couple of people who lent us money last week, and for the grocery challenge etc. He said yes. When he got BACK though, he blithely gave me half the amount of money that we needed to pay the ppl we owe back, and none of the grocery money! Then he announced he was going off to bingo with the other £40 in his wallet!    Luckily that got cancelled otherwise I might be in the nick for attempted murder right now.

I'm fed up of working my backside off and not seeing any of the money for myself. It all goes on bills and keeping HIM happy.

Anyway, thanks for listening. I hope you're feeling a bit better now PP, and to everyone who is suffering in the heat a big HUG.

    Afternoon Everyone

I'm so excited I've just booked a holiday to Dorset, we go aweek on Saturday. It is so needed by both me and DH although he would never admit it.

Anyway back to reality, my rota has gone to pot since the weekend something to do with everybody being in the house at the weekend and then sister looking after DD on Mon and Tues. DD is now having her nap so I'm going to do my swish and sweep now so it will hopefully be looking better by tonight. Also need to put back together the small car seat now the component have been washed.

    Have a good afternoon all

I do similar and pop a tin of tuna in with the potatoes :)
