    Ajax - hope you make it to Tesco's in time ... our's shuts at 4pm :eek: :eek:

    I did, thanks. Ours closes at 5 :j Got some lovely organic yoghurt all for free and seeds of change pasta as I had a voucher for that too...

    Also, loads of stuff in the reduced section. They had all these fruit tins half price because there were dents in them. So I got loads and loads for baking cakes and making desserts. Oh and biscuits too. I love going to Tescos just before it closes on a Sunday. You get everything half price. I left with two full shopping bags for £ 5,00...

    Then came home and put the futon from IKEA together. It took quite a while, there were a million screws. But really, I love it! It was only £49 for everything, I think that's a good deal...

    Right, oh is cooking. I am off to watch TV ;) He's spoiling me for having a stressful day.

    Also, I am just uploading Film Four on my Freeview box. It's free from today! :j :j :j

    Johanne,

    Have a look at flights to Paris, we booked with BMI Baby for £106 in October, they were selling flights for £7.99 with taxes added.

    We leave early in the morning which gives us the afternoon in Paris and fly back late in the evening, we will be home for bedtime. If you look at Hotel.com you can book hotels for reasonable rates.......ours was £132.00 for 3 nights, we have to pay extra for breakfast but thats not a problem.....if you do not want to eat in the hotel there are plenty of cafes where you can eat french style.......if your OH has lived in Paris he will know the best places to go.

    We went for a weekend 2 years ago, there was lots we did not see, hence our visit in October, we are going in the week, no children, jobs etc..hoping that places will not be so crowded but Paris is popular what ever the season.

    Living in the sunny? Midlands, where the pork pies come from:

    saving for a trip to Florida and NYC Spring 2008

    Total so far £14.00!!

    Evening all

    Today myself and OH took an estate car of rubbish down the dump. Someone fly-tipped outside our back gate in the alley. Apparently the alley is private so the council won't get involved. I believe that rubbish attracts rubbish so we have taken the morning out to get it bagged up and gone. I think it's an awful thing when someone does that! :mad: Darned well hope they don't do it again.

    That said, to restore my faith, last night while blackberry picking I walked past a BBQ with my Dad and DS and commented that it smelt nice. Well 10 mins later they came over and gave us a kebab for DS! I felt a bit embarrassed, like they may have thought I'd been on the scrounge or something (especially as I was picking wild blackerries!) but still, it was a lovely gesture.:dance:

    This afternoon I went blackberriy picking again (!) to top up last nights for wine making and the rest is being pureed with left over apple and sugar into cubes for a cheapo version of the muller rice for DS. (Creamy rice to be provided by Tesco Value :rolleyes: )

    New shed now has lighting to it, woo hoo! Curtesy of OH and his brother today and yesterday

    At least it's been a bit cooler today eh?

    Oh heck, I can't believe the time...

    Hello everyone!

    Having another one of those nights where I just can't sleep for love nor money and lying in bed wide awake is more frustrating :wall: . Come down now for a cuppa and a browse around.

    Have been looking through the Christmas threads on here (current and indexed ones) and have to say it's got my brain juices a-flowing. The biscuit benefit for OH and DS is that I've not made biscuits before so they get to taste my trials!

    Ho hum... hopefully wil start to get sleepy soon... I'm supposed to be up for work by 6.30 latest! Was planning a 5.30 start to get bits done in the garden and shed before I left, but maybe I won't be up for it tomorrow now...

    Hello everyone! Shortie and Chardonnay, I hope you both managed to get some decent sleep in the end.

    It's Monday and it's the first day of my week off w***. Yippee! I've got a list of things to do which is very long - the first one is really scary...I have to take my laptop to the computer shop. I have been unable to access my D drive for yonks now - so time to get it sorted. If I disappear it's not because I have been kidnapped by Morten Harket or George Clooney, but because my laptop is having overnight surgery. Fingers crossed it'll be OK, but I dread the thought of being without internerd access for even one evening!

    Other than that my aims for the day are:
    • cash in some shares I have with Standard Life and pay off a credit card;
    • go to three blind shops and get quotes for all my windows;
    • contact the university in England to check that my qualificationss are sufficient for the course I am considering;
    • do some more filing of household papers - the pile is greatly reduced but not gone
    • go for a nice long walk up a nearby mountain

    I think that will keep me occupied for a while, don't you!?

    In the meantime I'm going to try and get an hour or so more snoozing done as I didn't get much sleep last night at all.

    See you all later....I hope!

    ....Morten Harket.... I bet he's changed a bit since his A-Ha days, was that 20 year ago?

    With around 2 hours sleep, I feel amazingly fresh... although ask me again 2 hours into my work!

    Oh Hum

    Things to do this week, whilst in the 'get it done mood':

    Cancel my Organic Vege Box
    Check Up Re Tie-In period (?) on my Mortgage-Linked Life Insurance

    The Vege Box cancellation will 'save' me £22 per month and I wasn't particularly happy with the goods quality
    Mortgage-Linked Life Insurance - paying for critical cover at mo. About £98 :eek: . Have a quote from Virgin f(link from this site - thanks!) for £14 terminal illness and decreasing only, but that's a saving of over £80 that will pay off debts instead
    Look at paying off the £150 I owe the Lecci Board due to a mix up of underestimated usage when we moved in over 1 year ago, and the whole time having estimated readings.. oops. Have also sourced a cheaper Gas anfd Lecci supplier (Scottish Power) and due to start with them sooon so need to pay that off. Need to change Sig as my extra £100 payment as of this month will change to next now...

    Anyway, that's me getting organised this week!
