:hello: Goooooood Morning!
Good luck to the Next Sale Shoppers - I did contemplate going but things have been so very hectic here that we've prioritised a lay-in and slow start to the morning instead! Can't wait for the holidays to begin next week, it's been quite manic with all the different trips/events/performances/etc going on.
Last weekend we spent a lovely Sunday afternoon celebrating a friends birthday. He was a bit stumped at first by the Journal Jar I'd put together and for a moment I thought the time I'd put into making it and decorating the jar and journal had been ill spentbut, by Wednesday when they brought the bed over, the penny seemed to have dropped and he was duly selecting his slip of paper and writing his memories  His wife has to begin a course of radiotherapy in a few weeks (can't begin sooner because she still needs to heal from the op) with so much on their minds, it's not really surprising the JJ confused them initially.
B: Porridge
L: Cheese Couscous cake (leftovers)Cold cuts and salad with hm rolls
The heat has been quite oppressive and debilitating but today is a bit fresher so I'm hoping to get some crafting done ... want to make a Boredom Buster Jar for the summer holidays. Basically, decorate a kilner jar and fill with 200 slips of paper with different activities and then woe betide if anyone says "I'm bored!" they can take a slip of paper and do the activity.
Great news for September ... when d12yo joined the school last Sept, we were sent a letter asking if we would be interested in a Holiday Spanish for beginners evening class. Filled it in, then forgot about it. Well, it begins this September and runs for 10wks - free! - and should be a lot of fun as the boys and I will be learning together :T (oooh, hope they help me with any homework)
Will be working the BM on overtime today between doughs, breads and cakes so I'll crack on.
Have a great OS Saturday, everyone:wave:

Morning all :hello:
I've put 2 loads of washing on the line, there's another in the washer at the mo and another load waiting to go in. I've showered already  , just having a tea break.
I ordered a yogurt maker the other day. Is it ok to use semi-skimmed milk or does it have to be full-fat? Can't wait for it to arriveI bought a new kettle yesterday, the type that goes on the hob. I feel very OS when I use it

Queenie, my friend and her daughter went to Spanish classes, they loved it. I'm tempted to start learning, I reckon it sounds sooooo sexyBulletproof0

Morning to all the Saturday early birds, and all who follow.
Catowen, have a great time at the Sale; hope you get loads! :j Enjoy your night out!
PP, I have a Next clearance near me, at Castleford. Never found anything in there, but may give it another try on your recommendation - I need a winter coat.
Morning, Amanda, sounds like you did well! :j
Brokenwings, hope this isn't a personal question, but what are "nads"?? I regularly type "nad" when I mean "and" so would love it to have a real meaning. :rotfl: :rotfl:
Manicdays, looks like you've already left for w***. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. :j
Morning, Queenie, our paths haven't crossed recently, so good to hear from you again! :A We learnt Spanish as a family a couple of years ago - great fun.
Morning, Troo!. I also have a lovely hob kettle, which I like to keep sparkly! Only downside, is it doesn't turn itself off if you get caught on the phone or in the garden.
Moggins, the pool sounds great. Just the thing for the school hols!
Churchmouse, how are you this morning? Feeling better, I hope.:hello:
Roz V - you did make me laugh about the washing powder. :rotfl: How's the new pad?
Have a brill Saturday, everyone!

Morning everyone.
Lovely & cool here this morning so we managed a lie in until 7.30 ...... LUXURY:D
Lovely quiet weekend planned with lots of pottering type jobs around the house (I love a good potter), a couple of bike rides & some me & DH time. The next 4 weekends are frantically busy, all with stuff we want to do like family birthday meals, friends birthday barbies, our village music festival with everyone round to us for tapas & then a weeks cycling tour of Dingle but we love to plan a quiet weekend for just us.
Dorry I was so sorry to hear about your dad. I don't think it matters how ill someone has been it's still a terrible shock. You must take care of yourself. As Aussielass said yesterday it'll 'bite you on the bum' when you least expect it for sometime yet & you must give yourself time to grieve.
I LOVE Next Clearance. I have to avoid walking past when I'm at lunch otherwise it draws me like a magnet. I bought some FAB black velvet shoes with embroidered wedge heels for a fiver a month ago. I also got a great pair of wide legged black linen tousers for £5 & a beautiful photo album decorated with ribbons, sequins & feathers for £1.50 - original price £15.99.
Good news about the Spanish classes Queenie I never learnt Spanish at school but I wish I had. I hate being in another country & having no idea how to communicate.
Hope everyone has a brilliant weekend fingers & toes are still crossed BRZL.0 -
Im back from the sale!!!!!
Actually, wasnt as bad as previous years, normally we are queueing for ages, and being pushed and shoved all over the place, but for Nexts standards it was possitivly quiet!!!! Managed to be in and out in an hour, and have loads of stuff, all of it half price!!!!! If the children hadnt been with me, i wouldve had a better look through everything, but once we have been in the childrens department, they start getting bored!!!!! Saves me some money as well!!!!
PP - we used to have a Next clearence store, but it closed down a couple of years ago, to make way for the new shopping centre they are building in Plymouth. Actually, its due to open in October, with one of the biggest Nexts in the country, a bigger M & S, Starbucks and a Primark!!!! Sale shopping heaven, me thinks!!!!
Queenie - good luck with the Spanish, and that boredom buster jar sounds an excellent idea, think i might be pinching that idea, and making one for the children this summer!!!!!
Well, my two are off to their dads this weekend, they havnt seen him since the beginning of May, and DD is actually going to stay over so i am child free until tomorrow evening. Im actually really sad about it, he isnt the best dad in the world (he really doesnt deserve my lovely children) and i always miss them dreadfully, even when they go for just a day. But, wonderful friend is taking me out tonight to keep me busy, think we are going to go and see the break up, with Jennifer Aniston, and then go for something to eat. Im thinking an Indian at the moment, but that might change, see what we fancy at the time!!!!!
Right, im off for a shower and to wash my hair, i always like to look nice when ex picks up the children, i dont want him, but dont want him to think ive let myself go either!!!!!
Have a lovely day everyone,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -

your question suddenly made me think that 'nads' sounds abit rude - like part of a mans anatomy!!!!:embarasse
it is infact a hair removal system originally from aussie - i think the woman started the business in her own home - a cross between waxing and sugaring really - hurts but works!0 -
Morning all
Queenie - Those jars sound like a fantastic idea....I think I might have a go at the boredom one.
Catowen - Well done on the bargins.
Hugs to all who need them.
Well a mixed day yesterday and a very emotional one to boot.
Had a potter round next clearance store with a friend - got loads of stuff for £21, DD's are very happy.....got some craft bits I needed for the hols, beach shoes for the girls too as they're going to stay with my parents for a week of the holidays and all the beaches round there are sharp pebbles or shell based....everything I picked up was reduced...I love it when it works like that.
Anyway - received a phone call from Ex to say he'd received the letter from the CSA and that he can't be expected to "keep shelling out all this money" so asked DH if he'd like to adopt the girls so that he can stop all payments. Very mixed emotions as you can imagine - DH has always wanted to adopt them but Ex would never agree and quite frankly we couldn't do without the money - now things have changed - it will mean pulling in our belts, but we're all agreed that it's well worth the effort. DD's are so excited, they've never had a good relationship with their father and this just proved to them what he's all about. We've said that we'll never stop him from seeing them, all the time they're willing but I don't think he'll bother to make the effort.
As you can imagine we are over the moon and this morning DD1 has asked what can she do to help us save some more money, she's willing to go without treats and pocket money, as long as we can still afford to buy her favourite cereal (value weetabix lol)....It's times like that when you really do get a lump in your throat.
Anyway - hope you all have a great weekend - we're off to sort the garden out and set up the swimming pool for the summer - even though there's a hose pipe ban we're allowed to fill the pool as we've got the filter and chlorine to only have to do it the once."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W.
