Morning, brokenwings, and all who follow. I'm impressed at your achievements already this morning, you hotty. :j
DS's last day at primary school and leavers' assembly this morning. Will take a photo of him at the front gate in the same position as I took him on his first day. May not be able to get him to hold hands with his best friend this time, though.:rotfl: I haven't collected him from school for some years, now, but will go up today, to watch everyone in tears. This will probably include me, again.
We're off to New York on Sunday, so packing to do today. This is a huge treat for us (I've never been outside Europe), but DH has done a lot of business travelling, and clocked up a shed load of air miles, so it's not as expensive as it might have been. We're also stayong with a very old friend (the friendship is old, not the friend, lol) in Philadelphia, so can't wait. :j :j
Rzl, any thoughts on your flat, after sleeping on it?
Shez, free concerts, how fab!
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Hi Brokenwings and all that follow.
Must be something in the area in Worcestershire as I decamped to the lounge at 1am as it was just too hot!
Well need to get a wriggle on as office to work in a mo.........
OS for today will not start until this evening then its a banana loaf and some serious washing and tidying. I'm off at the weekend and hoping to indulge in some cricket watching instead of housework ( that will still be there in the winter- live cricket won't be!)
Hope you all have a wonderful day
BRzl - the flat looks wonderful - as keeping everything crossed for you too0 -
AHH BROKENWINGS.......sorry to hear you had a bad night, the temperature actually dropped here-thank god- and i had the first unbroken night for a few weeks...very much appreciated.

BRZL....the flat looks fab!!! i really hope it works out for you.

Morning all
Another hot one here by the sea:p
Not doing a lot this weekend, I have to go see my horse at some point as he is not too well (too much lush grass in 25 acres) so he will be in his stable for a while before his belly goes bang.
Rzl= the flat looks fab, I did shared ownership thingy on my first home with Moat Housing a great way to get on the ladder.
PP= I baked a quiche last night and it was inspired by you DH the other day when you posted the pic of one he made:D
Pollen must be high today as I can't stop sneezing again:rolleyes:
Need to do some shopping later dont need a lot just washing liquid loo rolls salad and some bits to make cornish pasties.
Still searching for hair extension clips, any ideas anyone?
Have fun all:T0 -
Good morning all!
I slept really well last night, didn't find the heat too much of a problem - mind you, we have both windows wide open, & have taken the duvet out of its cover & just have the cover over us!
We have our home ed. group over the border in Suffolk today, I think it's going to include a BBQ, & probably tennis (that's a bit too much energy for me in this heat!) Not sure what else, as we missed the last meeting being on holiday.
Have a good day!0 -
Morning All,
Just caught up in the last of yesterdays thread.
RZL-That flat looks superb!!! All "show-homey" and clean and lovely. Fingers crossed for you with the HA thingy.
NICKI-I LOVED your "Getting Old" post. I used to play elastics and had loads of flourescent spokey dokey's on my bike!
Todays plan is just to try and cope with the heat - again. DD1 breaks up this afternoon from her nursery class, will be a bit emotional as it means that when I take her back in Sept she will be in reception and having a full day away from home. Its a long day for a 4 year old though, 8.50am till 3.30pm. She'll be in bed by 6!:T
Also have a playgroup to help run this morning which we keep open during the hols ( a lifesaver) so we might have to have a brainstorming session in order to come up with some activities to keep the older ones, who will prob tag along as its hols, busy.
After that I have to menu plan big time for wednesday as I have 4 friends and their 8 kids coming to visit the new house on wednesday next week. I'm so far thinking quiche, new spuds, salad and bread rolls??????
Righto, off to browse and have a coffee, gosh its lovely to be back!
Have a good day guys,

Funnily enough I have the same BM & mine is the opposite - the warmer the weather, the better the loaf. A couple of times in the last couple of weeks I thought it was going to lift the lid it rose so much!:D
It was much cooler here last night, in fact for the first time in AGES I pulled a sheet over me in the middle of the night as I was a bit TOO cool.
BRZL The flat looks great, ideal for you. If crossed fingers & toes & positive vibes are any help you'll surely get it judging by the posts on here.
Penelope Penguin Have a fabulous trip to the USA. I'll be at w**k as usual.
That reminds me I'd best get dressed & get going. I'm interviewing all day today so it'll be busy & very intense. You want to be fair to everyone but after about the first 6 it's tough to keep focused on the same answers to the same questions especially when you haven't had time to have any lunch or even a wee!!!!:o0 -
Good morning all,
Wow brokenwings, I feel inspired, should start baking straight away... Not sure whether I can stand the heat from the oven though...
I managed to sleep until about seven. Quite impressed really, although it was really hot...
Good news: the plumber is coming today! I am so looking forward to having a shower again. We haven't been able to use it for two weeks now  And it's so hot!! He will be here in about one hour. By the way, do you think I should ask my landlady for a reduction in rent because the shower was broken for such a long time and noone came to fix it until now? I am a bit shy when it comes to that...
I have to write up a feature interview for a music page I write for today. 1500 words, should not take too long. Oh has band practise. Gonna try and sneak into Ikea for a guest bed I think. It's just round the corner, maybe I'm lucky... Cleaned the house yesterday so nothing there to do really...
Going bowling tonight :-)
Have a good day all...0 -
