Welcome Back Kiwichick!:hello:Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0

Woohooo ... I now have a fax saying I have a mortgage approved in principle ... Tasks for this evening are, number one, make long list of questions to ask when viewing flat tomorrow - a task for the train home, methinks ... number two, plan what to cook for Glyndebourne on Saturday (yes I'm going AGAIN, best friend and I are preparing a meal between us - he's doing main course and pre-show nibbles, leaving me with starter and dessert) ... number three, cook something for tonight ... see you later (and WELCOME BACK KIWICHICK!) ... Love Rzl xx

Hey - you think that sounds cheap - I paid £1.25 & was scandalaised when they went up to £1.50. I've just worked out that was 33 years ago. AAARRRGGGHHH!
Penny - Pincher I have just done some lovely couscous with left over onion, peppers, black olives and mushroom with a stock cube and tastes delish....but can it be stored in the fridge ok if not all eaten today and eaten maybe tomorrow ...never done it before and dont want to kill dd or OH ....well not intentially anyway
I've done this loads of times with no ill effects. Particularly as you're not going to re heat it I'm sure it'll be absolutely fine.
Lots of you have really exciting or really sad news at the moment & I wish you all well. Although I don't post on this thread a lot I like to read about what you're all up to.0 -
I make lemon and parsley cous cous, any left gets stored in the fridge and used on salad, as long as its not reheated it should be fine.

Just had a few storm ants and a few drops of rain earlier, maybe storm tonite,, needs it though dont it! phew. another glass of water!!!!
snowy - jobs fine thanks, still not doing much at the moment, but i am sitting in an aircon office, doin my own thing and getting paid for it (i hope end month!) so i cant complain yet!
moggins - god heard your worry cries and sent some overtime to help out!!!!0 -
Oops I've just had to turn down an overtime shift for DH, don't know if he's going to be happy or annoyed. It's just that he only had two days free between one lot of shifts and another and I didn't really think he would be too happy about fitting another day in. He'll have done 3 overtime shifts already by the end of the month and he only went back to work last week after breaking his rib!
Isn't it amazing how things turn out, I was worrying myself sick last week because he'd been off sick and I didn't think there would be enough money to see us through September and now he's got overtime coming out of his ears.
He's been in this job for a year now and nearly every month he's managed to keep his wages at the same level they were before when he was on £5000 a year more.
And thanks to a post on the vouchers board I have managed to get DS two pairs of trainers for under £30, which for his huge size 12 feet is a miracleOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
A-HA are singing "Take on Me" now - to be honest thats the only song i know of theirs!0

Evening All
Been busy today so have only had a quick skim of the thread so hope everyone is ok.
SnowyOwl - gather Ted is back thankfully
Welcome back KiwiChick.
Been running errands and making phone calls all day so feel havnt got much done. Treat this evening took picnic down to local beach and DD took her friend with her - the breeze was very strong and we actually felt a little cold! Heard some thunder but no rain here but it definately feels a lot cooler so should have a good nights sleep.
Have got loads of housework, ironing and paperwork to do tomm so really want to get a head start in the morning, I am looking forward to the school holidays as tend to spend 7.30 to 8.30 each morning chasing DS to eat breakfast, get dressed etc - he is soo laid back.
Got another treat tomm in that I am going out for a meal with friends I usually meet up with once a month but its nearly 6 weeks since last time. We are going for a harvester and will be there in time for the early bird so it wont break the budget either.
ANyway best get to bed now.0 -
Good evening everyone,
Shez - Hunting high and low, is another a-ha one i remember!!!! Do you get to hear lots of concerts from your house?
Kiwichick - welcome back!!!!!
Rzl - well done on getting the mortgage agreed, bet you are getting excited about the visit tomorrow now!!!!!
Well, it kept trying to rain here, big drops for about 30 seconds, then nothing again!!! just waiting for this thunder storm they are forcasting now, bet it will be the middle of the night and wakes me up!!!
Never mind, we are more fortunate than a lot of the country, its not been as hot here as most places!!! (mind you, i love the heat!!!!)
Just went into the kitchen to put something away, and ended up cleaning out the cupboard under the sink, found loads of cleaning products that i forgot i had, so will have to start using them up!!!
Right, im off to bed now, hope everone sleeps well,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Evening all!
Well it's a tiny bit cooler but not much! Mind you when there was a breeze a bit earlier one of the neighbours had to light a bonfire to burn green garden rubbish and cardboard!!! There was so much black stinky smoke I had to shut all the windows! I love a bit of consideration, don't you!
Hey I've just seen on the news gritting lorries in Dunkeswell, Devon. That's where my Dad lives! Apparently it's to stop the road melting.
Went to Matalan hoping to find some flattering cool tops to cover my flab. Not much luck there, but I did go in Staples and I got a pukka project book!:TAlso bought another £14.50 worth of assorted post it notes, pens, little notebooks etc. What will I do with them? That's the beauty of a stationery fetish - never having to know what you'll use it for!! It's enough just to have it:rotfl: :rotfl:
Fridge is really struggling in this weather so have had my wine in the freezer!
DH has just proclaimed it perfectly chilled, so now need one hand for more pressing things!;)
See you all tomorrow! You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0
