Home made lemonade.
Use a fork to p r i c k (blooming sweary filter!) 6 lemons all over and put in a big bowl. Add about 100gms sugar and pour over boiling water to cover. Leave half an hour. Take a fork and score lines over the lemons, which will release some zest. Leave another half hour then cut the lemons in half and squeeze in the juice. Leave till cool then strain into a jug or two and refrigerate. Experiment with the amount of sugar till you get the taste you want. One life - your life - live it!0 -
You can make a lightly-fermented lemonade too, a bit like ginger beer or elderflower champagne; recipe similar to the one I use here. And my girls used up about 6 lemons (bought cheap at the end of last Sunday's market) this week making a delicious lemon & raspberry tart; they will have found that recipe online too. Also - lemon curd?Angie - GC Jul 25: £225.85/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

I was recently given a huge amount of lemons
I've made 3 batches of lemon squash, lots of lemon curd and I've frozen the juice and zest in separate bags for use later0 -
Thanks everyone - I knew you would all give me some ideas. Will give some of them a go.0

You can grate the zest, (but depends if they are waxed or not), and freeze in small batches. Then juice the lemons and freeze the juice, some in ice-cube trays, for small amounts, and some in larger batches, depending on what you want.(I just lurve spiders!)

HM lemon curd.....nothing you can buy will be better...this then translates to lemon curd tarts....if you are a real foodie.
Also a huge fan of slicing and freezing and do it often with YS lemons and limes.Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.0 -
