Morning all,
Missed you all yesterday, didn't get my fix til late last night! Hope everyone's well and enjoying the thaw. Long may it continue - life's getting a bit easier at work. No overtime for me today, so 'll be starting at 4pm. Will be busy working at home this morning though!
Plan of action - the dish mountain, OH didn't do them last night, and I was too tired to even look at it. Not very happy, I am working extra and still taking on [STRIKE]the majority[/STRIKE]all the housework. I know it's my own fault, but I just don't have the energy to discuss it, as he will get annoyed, and we'll argue, and then he'll sulk for a day or two, and then it'll be the same as usual. I should have put my foot down years ago! God, that sounds like a real moan, and actually, it's not a huge issue, as I am a bit of a control freak, just feeling a bit exhausted with all the extra hours.
Right, back to today's plans. Washing dishes, making veggie sausage rolls, putting TD and WM on, vacuuming, and some of the Flylady list. I'm a couple of days behind on that, but I'm not going to sweat it. The boys are home for lunch today, a Friday tradition, so I've a cake to bake as well, and might try and make some microwave tablet for the team at work if I've time. After lunch, I'll go do MIL's shopping and make her something to eat, then after I've dropped the kids off, I out to work until 9pm. Working tomorrow and Sunday, too!
Sorry for the novel!
Have a great day everyone, and hugs to everyone in need.

Morning everyone :hello:
Well done to Miss Penguin and Master Specsappeal.
Hope you feel better soon Sequeena.
OH got up with the girls this morning so I have been lazy so far. Need to get on in a minute and do the Friday Tidy.
We ran out of bread last night and although I normally only use the BM to make dough I put it on a timer to do a full bake last night so there would be fresh bread with the fresh eggs this morning. Good idea in theory as long as you don't forget and switch off all the sockets in the utility room before you go to bed.Luckily there were some English muffins in the bread bin.
Want to get out with OH for a walk today to blow away the cobwebs and am hoping to get ahead with the weekend cooking.
I got some rtc parsnips yesterday so will do curried parsnip soup for tommorrow's lunch and defrost some stewing steak for a stew to bung in the SC.
Nothing very exciting there.
Take care
Haribo x
ETA... Jackie, can I have the recipe for your microwave tablet as OH loves it but I hate the hob top method as the stirring knackers my arms....Thank you kindly. xxx0 -
Grrrr:mad:
Just made 6 phone calls to various departments of the tax office, only to be given the run around.
I became self employed last January and have been paying my quarterly NI contributions since then. But I did not receive the paper forms for tax returns in April as i should have (didnt know that I should have had them till last week).
I rang to get my tax reference number and they said Im not registered! Another person said I am because I have been getting the NI bills, but he couldnt tell me what the registration number is. Rang the local tax office, got a very helpful (or so I thought) person, who is going to send me the paper forms and the registration number in the post today. However, for some reason I have been registered with a temporary NI number - no idea why. He said I needed to ring another number to ask if it could be changed. When I did, that person told me I needed to ring the local tax office - which is where I had just been :mad::mad:
Anyway, upshot is that I am likely to end up with a penalty for late payment/assessment, but as the penalty cant be more than the tax due and the tax due is likely to be £0 (January to April) then the penalty will be reduced to £0 too.
What a palaver! It was supposed to be so simple! And now I cant do anything until I get the letter telling me what the tax reference number is.
Think I might get an accountant next year! [more costs!]

I'm midway through the housework - just had my brekkie and I'll be back to it soon.
Lunch is some type of soup with a reduced seeded roll from Asda, Dinner for me is the quorn curry I never ate yesterday with rice.
Will walk into town later to go to the bank, post office and collect DHs pigeon magazine.
see you all later xDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Well done to Miss Penpen & Masterspecsapeal Its so good to hear when kids work hard and do well Too many folk knock youngsters and don't give them a pat on the back. My DGS Ben is doing his DoE award, and is working voluntarily in a local book shop on a Saturday morning selling books to raise money for our local Church roof.he said last night that when his 13 weeks work allotment is over he wants to carry on there as he really enjoys it .
School run went well but by jiminy its blooming cold out there, colder than when we had the snow I think.Well off to wash my hair as I am going to the hairdresser at lunchtime ,I know it sounds daft but I always like go there with clean hair .
Cheers Chums xx0 -
Morning all!
Well although its raining here there is still some black ice making parts of the walk down from school very slippery-managed not to fall but nearly went twice!
I'm off to friends in a while (the mum who lost her little boy last year) and we are going for a pub lunch. I'm looking forward to seeing her but think we will be shedding a lot of tears.
Because of my lunch out I'll be having HM soup and ryvitas for tea-mmm yummy!!! but I really want to lose weight for my holiday. 1200 cals is too low for me too- I'm aiming for 1500 a day. If it comes off slowly its easier to keep it off.
Off to shops on my way.
Hugs to those that need one!July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

Course you can, Haribo! It's not scientific mind!
12oz granulated sugar, 4oz butter and small tin Evaporated milk, and a couple of drops of vanilla if you fancy it (not essential)
Put it in the biggest bowl you have that will fit in the microwave, and heat for 3 mins, then whisk with your electric mixer for a minute or two (I have RA and can't do cooker top either) Then another 3 mins, repeat - usually takes mine 12 minutes, but it has on occasions taken a bit longer, keep an eye on it as it can bubble right over the top of your bowl, I have a huge microwave and a huge plastic bowl. Eventually it will start to seize and be that gorgeous rich golden colour, turn into a dish lined with baking parchment or similar - I use a square silicone cake pan, which I grease very lightly with a bit of kitchen roll dipped in oil.
Et voila! Delicious tablet! Can't remember where I got the recipe, though. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -

Good morning guys,
It's been a busy few days here at chez Smoky! Tuesday I got home from work to find the house stinking of gas  Phoned the 088 Number and the lovely lady on the other end insisted on speaking to me as if I was 5 yrs old  I bit my tongue - barely - however someone was out half an hour later and it seems there was a leak from the back of the cooker which he fixed but best of all it was free! The nice man also checked the central heating and the fires were working OK before he left too. The house has been full of kids this week and I've even fed some of them too - they saw what mine were having and asked if they could stay for tea. Cue phone calls to mums for permission. I don't mind really as it's great that they have mates. It looks like there is a sleepover happening on Saturday too, hmph! Sunday will not be a PJ day this week methinks.
I've spent the last few nights catching up with some E learnig and tests for work with the excuse that once it is done I can download a new game I bought from Morries so will be doing that tonight. My Bro will be here soon as he is good with computers and is going to have a look at the new lappy for DS1.
Donny - Thanks hun I tried that but it doesn't seem to be the problem.
OS wise, the house is clean and tidy, there is a replica of Mt Everest waiting for my attention in the utility, and the remainder of DS1's badges to be sewn on to his new cubs jumper. Tea tonight will be pasta and tuna I think as I have some garlic baguettes that should have been eaten several days ago to get rid of.
I hope you all have a productive day and gentle hugs to anyone in need of one today. Loving all the new faces too.:D
