  • Usually the DLM ends in 7-10 days, but although uncommon it has been known to get stuck and stay on
  • BTW, did another test (wired), and got a whopping 14 meg ! - sadly, it didn't last.

The average is about 12/13 meg which isn't too bad I guess.

I've heard good reports about O2 support - Be must be really good if they are better.

Mind you compared to Virgin's Indian call centres where they follow a script no matter what you say, anything would be great!

BE are in bulgaria (i think) but they are fantastic

Virgin tech support always asked us to download actual games files to test download speed - try downloading an actual fime and see what you are getting.

So when my SNR stops changing I will know that DLM has stopped?

Well hopefully they know what they are talking about and don't simply follow their script regardless.

They do, and they also interact with customers via the forums too and there is a great wealth of technical knowledge/people in there.

and Yes hopefully to the DLM question

Should the average be more than 12/13 meg (taking into a/c overheads) ?

Can you point to a certain file that'll give an estimate ? - I don't really do that much downloading.

Oh, and just googled as to how to get the full stats; they're as follows :
    Uptime:0 days, 3:43:42 spacer.gif

    DSL Type:G.992.5 annex A spacer.gif

    Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:1,274 / 16,349 spacer.gif

    Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [kB/kB]:0.00 / 0.00 spacer.gif

    Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:12.0 / 18.5 spacer.gif

    Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:8.5 / 18.0 spacer.gif

    SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:6.5 / 6.5 spacer.gif

    Vendor ID (Local/Remote) MMB / BDCM spacer.gif

    Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):0 / 0 spacer.gif

    Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):18 / 0 spacer.gif

    Loss of Power (Local/Remote):0 / 0 spacer.gif

    Loss of Link (Remote):0 spacer.gif

    Error Seconds (Local/Remote):14 / 0 spacer.gif

    FEC Errors (Up/Down):173 / 13,332 spacer.gif

    CRC Errors (Up/Down):173 / 395 spacer.gif

    HEC Errors (Up/Down):30,225 / 396
    Good or bad ?
  • Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:8.5 / 18.0 spacer.gif
    SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:6.5 / 6.5

That to me says there may be a problem with something as if your attenuation is 18db then you theoretically can get 21Mbps (maximum) and 12Mbps (minimum) but your 16Mbps (sync speed) is kind of in the middle, are you plugged into the master telephone socket?

    Not yet.

But I'll do that later (bit awkward at the mo').
