I applied for this offer on 14th, still no response so I phoned up Santander. Apparently my application has been approved, but their system cannot display the credit limit allocated, and in fact I will not be informed of this until I have signed and returned the written agreement which I should receive 7-10 working days after I applied.
So this is a great offer, but not for the impatient!0 -
i just called them to check on my application of 2 days ago and was told that there was a letter in the post today "requiring documentation", but he couldnt say what it was they were asking for. fair enough but odd as i have both an A&L and Abbey current account which i have had for several years.
i also asked about PPI after seeing someone mention it on this thread. i told him i never saw any option to opt in or out and that i didnt want it. he said that the system now requires you to opt OUT and there should have been an option to do so.
if i cant sort that out before i return any "documentation" i wont continue with the application, he suggested ringing the new account dept, wherever that is.
i am going to do a ghost application and see if i can see where the PPI part is, does anyone else know where for sure?
EDIT: i have just done the ghost signup and at no point does it even mention PPI, let alone give an option one way or another. i asssume PPI must be sorted out on the actual application confirmation form you sign once accepted?0 -

If you really fancy having the card, surely a letter (possibly recorded delivery) telling them clearly that you don't want PPI under any circumstances, and asking for confirmation of receipt, would do the trick?0 -

Sounds like they are trying the same nonsense again. Their administration is appalling.
At least they told you, by phone, that they were missing documentation - every single time (about 5 times) I phoned, they claimed they had not received my app, even after the date they eventually claimed to have written asking for the "missing info".0 -

went into abbey bank today and asked about their current account with free overdraft and the guy told me I could only get that if I had a mortgage with them (cannot see this info on line). I then asked him about the free balance transfer and he also told me I needed a mortgage with them. Can someone clarify as this does not seem right. I have a bank account 2 with halifax and a card of 8k with them also. I was going to transfer a credit card (need to by 31st Jan) to existing Virgin offer for 9 months at 3 per centSmile though your bank is breaking:)0

Can someone clarify...Plus, if you have a current account or a mortgage with Santander UK plc or Alliance & Leicester plc there’s...a 0% balance transfer fee.

I've just c*cked it up lol, I've applied through the normal customer link but i'm an existing customer, i didn't even notice there were different deals, trying to move my Virgin Money transfer from august like a few other people!
I made the same mistake and have spent the last week trying and failing to arrange a balance transfer without paying the 3% fee! I phoned them on Monday (twice), on Tuesday and on Friday and am still waiting for them to call me back! On Monday I had to fax them the page from the internet that gave the details of the offer.
I know it was my mistake but didn't think it would be so hard to correct and am reluctant to pay £90 for a 3k balance transfer if I don't have to. I can't say I am impressed with their customer 'service'!3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
i applied and have been told i have been accepted for this. only sticking point is i want to transfer in total 7k from 2 other credit cards. santander have said they can only ive me a limit of 2700 ?
any way i can get this increased?0
