Santander zero no fee 0% 12 mth bal transfer

I applied, bit surprised to not get an instant decision as in most other instances. My Tesco card interest free period is ending soon so a good time to switch but yet to hear back. Re PPI, i didn't see an option to 'opt in' but, suspiciously, not one to 'opt out' either. Won't be such a good deal if paying 79p on every hundred quid.......0

I applied yesterday. Was really worried I wouldn't get it and would have adverse credit data marked against me, last year Halifax turned me down (said I had too much debt, just finished 3 year degree course and need to find a cost effective way of reducing debt). I already have an MBNA card with 8500 on it and a Halifax One card with 4500 and 2 more with small debts on it. However have been stuck with paying 20.9% on my MBNA and 17.9% on my Halifax card. Needless to say I have been paying a massive figure each month without really reducing the debt.
Was really pleased that Santander approved my application. Just got to wait for the paperwork to come through to see how much the credit limit is. I know I can't transfer the MBNA balance (as it's an Abbey product) but hoping that I can transfer the Halifax balance and then once that's cleared transfer back to it on a good BT rate. Hope this is the case because over the last 12 months no cards have allowed me do a BT to them even though I had available credit on the account.
So time will tell but at least I will be able to reduce the debt a bit quicker now they've approved this 0% for 12 months deal. So quite happy with Santander at the moment.0 -
I have a Virgin card on 0% that runs out in May (as others have mentioned). I've had an A&L current a/c for a few years.
These 0% and no fee offers come round very rarely (Virgin was the last I think in September last year).
In theory I would like to put off applying for a few weeks, but it's a risk I'm not prepared to take. I will miss out on about three months of 0% interest, but this new offer is for a full 12 months, so that makes it easier to accept.

Can you do a balance transfer or money transfer (whatever it's called) to your bank account with Santander Zero or is it just to pay off other CCs?
Thanks.DEBT FREE OCTOBER 2012!Proud to have dealt with my debts!0 -

Thanks.
I want to know this too or can someone explain how to create a debt on another card (without really spending obviously) to transfer? Used to read about an egg card but never really understood it.0 -
I'm an A&L account holder and just went to read about the card. Don't think you can balance transfer onto an account.
But if someone thinks/knows differently, please let me and Mrs T know.

No, you can't transfer directly to your bank account with it."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -

You can transfer the money to an Egg Money card and then use the Egg Money card to transfer the funds to your current account."A child of five could understand this. Fetch me a child of five." - Groucho Marx0 -
