Thanks Leah.. I will certainly give them a go. An extra £20 or so could be money well spent under the circumstances.

• Just had a look at their policy wording and it doesnt look good. However, I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they say.

Hi, Just looked at their website to see where I saw it and under the FAQs it says:
• What about BA travel insurance – will it cover strike activity?

If you purchased BA travel insurance prior to any strike dates being announced you will remain fully covered, subject to the terms, conditions and benefit levels of the policy purchased.

That seems to imply that you are covered until they actually say when they will strike, so naughty of them to write this if not true, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

We fly next Thursday so hoping that a strike date is not announced tomorrow, so we can at least get there!!

LeLole... I am crossing all my fingers and toes for both of us. Tomorrow is apparently the last day that they can set strike dates... Roll on midnight Friday night.
Have a good holiday.

That is incorrect. The union have until the 15th to announce dates, but must give seven days notice before the actual strike.

I'm flying at 8:30 this time next week, fingers crossed they don't announce any dates in the next hour! :)

For anybody who does not yet have insurance, as well as the BA cover mentioned above, Virgin Insurance will provide cover if it is taken out prior to any dates being announced. My annual policy (incl USA) with Virgin was only £24, so quite a bit cheaper than BA.

If anybody has any problems at a later date with Virgin, I can provide you with the name of who confirmed the above information.

I wouldn't expect to hear anything until next Tuesday http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8552049.stm
, which would mean a 16th March start to any action. The anticipation is a 10 day strike (to force all cabin crew to be on a roster at one point or another), however the contingency plans from BA make it sound like distruption may be less than many anticipate.

Yep, I have given up on hearing before then ... but am getting incredibly frustrated waiting!

This quote from the C4 website made me laugh:
BASSA spokesman Ken Ablard told Channel 4 News. "Walsh really doesn't seem to know what his team are doing. He seems out of touch."

Willie Walsh out of touch? I can only assume that Mr Ablard lives in his own pretty little bubble ... hopefully the size of WT seat! ;)

I rang up Insure and Go and they said all booked hotels will be covered up until they announce the exact dates of the strike.
