PHL is still 767's right ? (I've been once before) They've got a better lounge now, right ? Rather than the underground dungeon.

    edit

If possible you may wish to consider flying London City to JFK, which they've promised won't be affected. I'm guessing availability on that route will be snapped up quickly now.

777 on the midday flight, 767 on the later flight - chose the earlier because it definitely has new CW. Not sure about the lounge, flying back from JFK.

I did look at the LCY route, but it is such a hassle getting to the airport. I can get a direct coach to LHR, LCY would be trains and underground ... not fun with my luggage!

For those worried about availability on flights that are running, it is worth keeping an eye on www.seatcounter.com.

This is interesting, and may help those who are flexible:
If you are booked to travel between 19 - 31 March inclusive you will be able to rebook or refund your flight.

This does imply that there will be knock on effects. I am not really sure what to do for the best?

If you are flying BA to the US, what are the rules on changing to a code share? Is that an option?

    Hi Guys,

Please can someone give me some help?

Unite have said that further strike action may take place after the 14th April.

Does this mean they will have to give another 7days notice before they strike?

I am travelling to Vegas on the 20th April so have a few worries over this?

    Thanks
    Danny

I believe that's the case. However, remember that the 7 days is a minimum number of days only and they could name further dates at any time beforehand (provided the minimum 7 days notice is given). As an example, the current strike dates of 27th-30th March, inclusive, are of course more than 7 days from today.

    thats what i was hoping...

Hopefully i should be able to get my flight over there because 7 days notice from the 14th would mean the 22nd April (i travel on the 20th).

Getting back might be a problem though...

Would they pay for the costs of hotels etc... if i had to stay over an additional night?

Sorry, you may have missed my point. They could of course name your flight date of the 20th April as a strike date at any time from now until 13th April as well. Unite have not said that the 14th April is a date from which they could announce further strikes. They are saying that further action could take place after the 14th April.

I wouldn't fly with any of the alternatives by choice, so not an option for me, but I think it is an option that is available if travel is essential.

I think I'm going to wait a few days and see how things plan out, both in terms of availability and what my friends plans are for the summer - I may be able to use this to my advantage!

so because they have given there 7 day notice for strike dates in March, they could effectively just name when they want to strike again in April???

Surely there must be another minimum number of days of announcing a second string of strike dates?
  • I work for British Airways and appreciate there are a lot of BA-related travel questions given todays announcement. I just wanted to pass on the link to our page which has the most up to date and reliable travel information please visit ba.com/strike
If I hear of any other updates I will flag it up on this forum.

    Regards,

Yes, as my post said, I believe they have to give a minimum of 7 days notice, but I can't understand why you believe that the 20th April would therefore necessarily be safe. For example, they could call for a strike on the 20th April anytime from today until the 13th April. The 13th April would be the 7 days minimum, but they could call a strike for the 20th April on any day before the 13th April as well.
