Afternoon guys
well i`ve been out _pale_ and its not good.
I dug out the biggest pair of socks that i could find and managed to stretch them over my walking boots and they did make a huge difference but even then i almost fell over, as NPM said earlier a lot of the roads are closed due to accidents and Dsis has just called to tell me of two cars tipped over completely on their roofs and a big accident involving a bus, oh i do hope that no one was seriously injured.
I managed to feed the birds but didn`t try to thaw the ice on the back steps as its still freezing on the thermometer so i`ve brought that back inside now, i also walked the doggies, i kept well away from the frozen water and the paths and managed to get by walking on the frozen snow, still very trecherous but we made it.
I was hoping to be able to visit the shops today as i`m running really low on bread flour and a couple of other bits but its just not worth attempting any trips. To get the flour involves a drive as none of our local shops sell bread flour not even the co op which i found hard to believe several months ago when i decided to try and support the local shops a bit more.
I`ve just cleaned the front spare bedroom out and i shall be tackling the bathroom shortly and then i shall make the soup i think, plenty to keep me busy here.
Noahs Penniless Mummy - I find that site a mine of useful information but it does get a bit bogged down at times when everyone is sniping at each other.
Catch up later folks.

Hi gang, well got the boys into school then had to go to eldest DDs to turf youngest DGD out of her pit as she had college this morning and wanted a lift. She wasn't too happy at Granny telling her to get a wriggle on, as the snow was coming down again. Managed to get her to college though, and then popped into Mr Ts to get some fresh fruit and veg.Got two huge whoopsied mangos for 89p which I thought were a bargain.Didn't spend a great deal though, only bought more or less what was essential.I am going great guns this month so far almost half way through the month and I have been to the shops twice, and in total only spent £23 .99 brilliant, as I am shopping for my main meals from my freezer. Still got quite a lot of bits left over from Christmas.Loads of cheese that I froze after Christmas and seemingly enless left overs.Still my purse feels quite healthy and full at the moment . One good benefit of not being able to get to the shops you don't spend as much cash.
I have to pick the boys up this afternoon from school and its still snowing ,but if the roads are bad I will walk over to pick them up, and their Dad can get them from my house. He has a meeting he has to go to this afternoon.DD is at work today though I can't see her selling many houses in this awful weather.
Roll on the spring and a bit of sunshine that will cheer us all up I think.
have a good day chums I'm off to have a Spanish omelette for lunch

All the dog talk yesterday made me smile. I have had labradors for nearly my whole life and currently have a 5 yr old beagle and a 1 yr old golden labrador so we've seen almost all naughtiness and chewing over the years :rotfl: The beagle has lost his recall over the last few days so we're going out armed with chopped up hot dog sausages to help. They are not a breed with a brilliant recall to start with but he has always been ok. Maybe the snow makes everything smell super interesting - he did find a frozen discarded kebab yesterday
We've got the same with Pip, our JRT. All of a sudden she's gone deaf when let off in the field, normally she'll come with 1 or maybe 2 shouts but yesterday I was there hollering away and nothing . She did turn up eventually but it was very much to her timescale, not mine.
Can anyone recommend a really good handcream please? I've been wearing rubber gloves for cleaning, but my hands are just so dry; they feel rough and horrible. Many thanksFlymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -

Was about to say good morning but I have just realised it is the afternoon.
Good afternoon!
The snow situation is now extremely boring. I agree with bargainbird on that one.More again overnight and I guess that more is on its way. DB saya he could be stuck in worse places. A backhanded compliment if ever there was one:)
OS cooking is going well as we have no option otherwise. Soup will be ready for lunch but I think I might do a spag bol for later and pack it with vegetables.

Neutrogena does a great handcream. It can be a bit greasy but quickly absorbs and you only have to use a bit.December GC £23.43/120 :T
Nationwide Overdraft £1136, Natwest Overdraft £1800(interest free), Natwest Credit Card £155/£350
Aim to clear overdrafts by Summer 2010

Hello everyone
Guess what? Yep it's snowing again  Just as the road and pavement was getting clear. I'm totally fed up with it. It's making so many people prisoners in their own homes. None of my elderly neighbours have got out in ages, and while I'm happy to help with shopping etc I don't relish driving in these conditions, but can't possibly carry it all on foot. It's over a mile to my nearest supermarket half steeply uphill, half downhill, so horrible both ways  Still our troubles are as nothing compared with Haiti.
I've got some lovely sweet potato soup and crusty bread for lunch. Dinner will be a casserole, sausage puttanesca. Really yummy and very warming, so that will go down well. Just to decide whether to serve it with rice or jacket potatoes. I'm going to tackle the ironing mountain, and then do a bit of knitting as a reward.
Good luck to all those taking exams at the moment, and (hugs) for the ill or worried.
edited to add, another vote for neutrogena hand cream. DH used it when his got sore and cracked from DIY, worked a treat. Perhaps if I used it I wouldn't have hands like a navvy :rotfl:You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

I find Nivea Q10 a good one, and they make a small tube I can keep in my handbag, also its not too scented. I always used to use vaseline intensive care but it seems to have gone very thin.

Hi everyone,
I use Crabtree & Evelyn handcream - it's bit expensive but really good and I love the smell of it. Any cream containing shea butter would be good, it's so rich and easily absorbed.0 -

Have you tried a thick layer of handcream/olive oil before you put your gloves on? Especially if you are washing up etc, the heat from the water makes the oil or cream penetrate the skin, so you get a mini beauty treatment and the kitchen gets clean
Waves to all :hello: especially all the new peeps...
Dinner today will be L/O gammon joint in a thick veg soup I think. Other than that the plan is some hems to mend, a crochet scarf to finish & the bathroom to clean.
Congrats to Floss - what date is the big day then?
Hugs to all, stay warm & safe0
