HI, we finally had our bins collected this morning which is a relief. I've been having a de clutter and sort out so it was really full. We also had our recycling collected yesterday so the house is much emptier than it was. I do feel that my tidying / decluttering is slowly getting somewhere, I'm looking forward to the next NCT sale where I can hopefully get rid of a lot more stuff (our attic is getting quite full with stuff for the sale). We are looking to move house at some point as we don't have enough room here, it would be really nice to have a spare bedroom for when our family visit.
It's really grey and miserable here and the weather forecast says it will sleet later on. I need to have a trip to the charity shop to drop off a bag of donations. I have offered stuff on Freegle but nobody seems to be taking anything. I haven;t decided what we are having for tea tonight, but I might do some baking as the tins are empty.
I'm off to flylady to see what I'm supposed to be doing today!

'Tis grey, cold and windy here on the coast. Nothing new there then :rotfl: Not much to complain about tho when considering what's gone on in Haiti
Aiming to inventory the small indoor freezer, figure out next weeks menu, clean the bathroom and pay a few online bills today. If I can fit it all in between OS thread checks. LOL Enjoying my last few 'indoor' days before I start back out on the park Monday, also want to get as many 'chores' done before then so I don't have to spend next weeks afternoons catching up because I've been away all morning.
Everyone take care out there on the slippy spots, sounds as if there are lots and lots of areas still dealing with the snow/ice. We are lucky and finally all clear here, at least for the moment.

Morning All!
More snow here overnight 3-4 inches and still coming down thick and fast. I walk to work so made it in this morning although its pretty slippery out there! I'll leave work early before it gets dark so I can see where I'm going as it's still hard to tell the pavement from the road round where I live (that and I would quite like to build a snowman with OH before it gets dark too! We're just big kids really!!)
He hasn't gone into work today as the roads here are treacherous still and he has to go down a really long windy lane to get to work so his boss said they can all work from home....not sure how much work he'll get done though, when I left he was sitting watching TV!
OS-wise, when I get home I have an overflowing laundry basket to get through and then cook tea and possibly make some bread (depends if I can be bothered though!)
Hope everyone has a good day! Wrap up and stay warm!0 -
morning,
i unfortunately made it out this morning, the journey took twice as long as normal, and i fell on my bottom 4 times.... so i have a mildly achey back.
i have however for the third day running remembered to pick up lunch from home which will save a me fortune...
small things make a difference, and at about £3 a day it'll soon add up.
i used up a load of leftovers yesterday, and am planning to have chicken stir fry tonight, i'm just not sure how laftovers would fare??????
i have loads of house work to get done, but i keep putting it off as i have no bin space, and i am trying to not empty it until after it has been collected - which should be next week, but as they missed last week it's awful
hey ho, i will make a stsrt tonight as it's starting to get me down...
i hope everyone has a stress freed ay, and that the horrid black ice melts soon...

Good morning all :hello:
Not posting much lately so thought i'd better show my face, as it were!
Welcome to all our new posters! It will take me ages to learn names but it's great to have you join us.
I'm horrified to read of all the places with black ice :eek::eek: We had a bit more snow overnight, then when I got up it was sleeting, has now turned back to snow again, really fed up with it as trying to keep warm is taking too much of my precious energy and there wasn't much to start with!
Pipkin - I tried to PM you y'day but your PM box was full - have you considered a Miniature dachshund? I was looking at a book about "Choosing a Dog" recently (because we have never had one of our own, never been bothered, but fell totally in love with our son-in-law's Guide Dog - she's a Black Lab/Golden Retriever X and so gentle, and so pleased to see us.) I have M.E. and DH is disabled, so were looking at breeds that don't need a lot of evercise, and the book said Miniature Dachshunds don't need to be walked and are happy in the garden. I doubt we will actually get a dog though. I think I'd prefer another cat.
NPM - So sorry to hear about the van
Celyn - Hope you are bearing up! Thinking of you. So sorry to hear about your Dad's van too (what is it with vans atm)
Sunnygirl (((HUGS))) to you and family. Nice to know that MIL's passing was peaceful.
Hester Great bargain with the lamb, that's good x
mioliere What did the doctor say about your cough? I hope it's easing.
Csarina - The cottage looks really cosy! Good luck with it all.
So many folk I haven't mentioned, sorry, but I do think of you all xxxx
A neighbour called by on way back from taking her daughter to Nursery (her poor little son was in his buggy looking more like a snowman by the minute - I don't think his Mum realised how bad it was til they were out in it!) to say a car had come round the corner at 7.30 and had slid on the road and clipped the back of DS's car. We were dismayed as he can't manage without it , but thankfully it was nothing major and car is still ok to drive. The other car drove off before neighbour could get its number - no surprise there
DH has gone to get a haircut, having spent some time clearing snow off the car. I thought he'd leave it for another day, but he reckons the barber's will be nice and empty, and his hair is getting on his nerves.
Dinner will be - er, flexible, depending on whether DS's evening class gets called off or not. I've got some HM ready meals in the freezer but they are only 2 portions - though there is some bolognese which I expect i could stretch with some more tinned tomatoes
Keep safe and warm, everyone :wave:0 -
I've been into work for just one lesson. It's really nasty outside, but I have to go out twice more, once for Physio Terrorist and then later on to get ds from school after his orchestra rehearsal.
Haven't figured which of the possibilities to have to eat yet. Physio is in town this time on same site as Tesco. I'm not too keen on Tesco, but I do need a couple of things I can't get at Aldi, so will do that if I cba. Also pass Lidl on the way home, so need to think about that as well. Need chocolate powder, as dd took the rest of ours back to Uni with her!
Must stock up on other stuff that has run out, bread flour, UHT milk are both low. Can't be without either.

Morning all, hope all is well.I was surprised at how slippy it was outside too,so DDog got less walk than usual.Ever since I slipped on ice 2 years ago when I was out with him,I have been terrified of falling as my arm/shoulder has never been the same since. It was snowing here too,but DH has just rung and it isn't where they are working-only about 3-4 miles away and nearer the hills.
Last nights planned beef casserole turned into curry, and was enjoyed by all-I cooked it in the pressure cooker and the meat was lovely and tender.I forgot about doing stews in it till s.o. on here reminded me( sorry, forgot who),tend to use it for veg,and soup, but it only took about 10 mins cooking,so thats very MS.I did the emergency biriani from Economy Gastronomy, minus tomatoes-DS2 allergic. You just put it all in,bring to the boil for about 5 mins, switch off the heat then leave it with the lid on for about 20 mins. That recipe makes loads,so some has gone into the freezer.
I may make some kind of cheese pie today as we still have quite a bit from Xmas.I recorded Hairy Bikers last night so still have that to watch.DS1 is going to help his pal do some painting at a house he and his GF have just got,so I will have the house to myself for a bit-rare occurence these days.I will hoover upstairs when he's gone out.I need to do another loaf as well,so better get off and carry on.
Diva- hope its just that the new car takes getting used to,perhaps you get in it a different way to the old one.Hugs to you and your dear ones.
Sequeena- DNA for dogs eh? I would be very interested to know Leo's true provenance, but not enough at the moment to shell out the cost for it:D ,as DH and DS2 work for themselves as builders and its not been a good 12 mths for the business  He is def mainly Mastiff, body shape wise, just the head thats not quite right :rotfl:I've never posted any pictures before,so will look into how you do it.
Take lots of care everyone x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Crikey its been ages since I posted but I have been keeping up with events.Sunnygirl sorry to read about your Ma in Law, a big hug from me to your OH as I know how gut-wrenchingly horrid it is to lose your parents.
MSD-Hows Tris?? You heard anything?
DD&D I know you've been sneaking onto the daily every so often you minx you.PM me and tell me how things are going with you
Well theres been loads going on here since I last posted.Christmas was interesting but a bit disappointing as we bought all the kids laptops from Ebay and all of them arent working properly and if we'd checked them thoroughly at the time of purchase we could have sent them back but its been too long now so its gonna cost a fortune to have them all looked at.So kids not happy about that. Then the dreaded flu bug hit the house in between Christmas and New Year and I spent all the time huddled shivering under a throw.New Years Eve was a treat as I wanted to go to bed at teatime but we'd bought fireworks for the tinies to set off at midnight so somehow managed to stay around till midnight and stood shivering in the garden trying to look enthused by the fireworks when all I wanted was my bed!
Since New Year I've been trying to get back on my diet but with little success at the moment as the house is still full of sweeties and cakies.Only put 3lbs on over Christmas so no great problem just need the motivation to restart now
I suppose everyone has been reading or hearing about the trials and tribulations of Burnley FC and the loss of their much loved but not reciprocated manager. The town is awash with speculation of how much blood will be shed at the Bolton game due in a couple of weeks.Think I might give that away game a wide berth and stay at home. They are bound to show it on sky cos sky love a bit of potential hassle and this game certain has potential for that. There is talk we will have a new manager today but not sure Brian Laws is the man for the job though
OS-wise I've been doing the usual cooking, cleaning, washing ironing and baking a storm occasionally too. With all this cold weather I have dug out my crochet hooks and I'm crocheting a scarf in the most fabulous burgundy/glittery colour.I love crocheting as it grows so fast so should be done in a couple of days
