Hi Mark, thanks for updating us - oh dear, poor Ann!:D I had guessed you were having internet acces probs at home again, but hadn't thought the reason would be so....er....interesting! Please give her a hug from me xx0

Candygirl - I got a slanket for Christmas - it's pretty wick too. It gapes at the back but I have it secured at the back with two safety pins so I can over the head on and off. I really want one of the proper ones from the skanket website - the one i got bought is also very static which is annoying! It was a present, so it's not like I can upgrade it without present buyer knowing:o
Pipkin - hope you feel better soon (and anyone else who is ill)
Pippa - sorry to hear about your friends Mum
Purpleivy - I have had accupuncture too. How on earth did you go to Tesco? It used to completely wipe me out. Also - found you a thread on Frozen soya beans
Hi to everyone else :hello:
Well i made the scary phone call and rang the Gas people. Now i have been "Bad" with my heating. For the past f ew weeks it has been on top temp, and on and off at intervals during the day. I thought i would have a bill of "£00s but no! I am actually still in credit! :j I have used £350 worth since last March, and am £106 in credit :j:j:j:j WOO HOOOOO!
My bones are really hurting today from the pilates yesterday. Really hurt to get out of bed, but it's a short term agony for a long term gain (or so i keep telling myself)Not going to do pilates today but will go a short walk.
The knit and crochet class is tonight - was trying to see if my neighbour would come with me but she can't . I need to force myself to go. I know I will love it, but I'm hesitating
Nearly finished kittys cushion cover - ohhh, going to knit a bit more, then take that with me tonight and get them to show me button holes. SG - your explanation made sense but I am a "show me" person so hoping they can helpAnd i will finally learn to crochet! I shall pack up my knitting bag I got for Xmas and shove myself out the door
Think i will have parsnip soup again for dinner and freeze the rest. It's funny having jellified soup - because it is made from proper hm stock
Think I need to run a bath to ease my bones. Now, what about chilli Jam.... come on Laura, just blimmin make it!
Hugs to those who need or just want one xxx

I'm fed up of this weather now. Walked-well if you'd call it that-think bambi on ice( but built lie a hippo!), onto work for a course this morning.Slipped, fell and banged my knee, which is now bruised and grazed whilst crossing the road!
DD's school was open if needed for childcare but so many people were falling that they said it was up to you whether they went or not-its up a steep hill, so my mum kept her here. This was good because I didn't know how my mum was going to get back down, nevermind me getting up and back collecting her. Some of the roads have still got black ice, its below freezing and now snowing again!
Right thats off my chest now! So far I've looked upon the inconvenience as good exercise as I've hardly used the car and dd's school has stayed open despite the snow, but I don't like ice!!!
Braising steak and jacket potatoes for tea that I'm really looking forward to. Despite the chill outside dd is turning the front room into a beach!July grocery- 24.40/220. NSD-1/3.

We were in bed just after 10pm after a very pleasant evening. I woke just after 3am, Oh was also awake, he said he woke thinking about where to put the compost bin!!!
Our hosts had kindly prepared a comfort tray with tea making equipment, so I made a cuppa each and we lay reading for a while, OH settled down to sleep before me…..we woke again just after 8am when our hostess’s husband left for work……we enjoyed a breakfast of porridge and toasted tea cake with coffee and orange juice. We could have had a Scottish breakfast has we wanted, but we preferred something a little lighter, I have enough trouble with my weight after Christmas as it is.
No sign of any further snow this morning, in fact it appeared to be quite mild. We phoned the landlord to let him know we were on our way and arranged to meet at the cottage.
We got to the cottage, Kenneth and Caroline were both there and the wood burner had been lit, the central heating also on.
The kitchen is bigger than we thought, the sitting room is a decent size, the bathroom neat but workable. The bedroom are on the small size the main one and second bedroom both have fitted cupboards. The second wardrobe I bought for Edwin just will not fit, its too big, so I am going to have to sell it. Guess I am going to loose a packet on it. The 3 door robe will go in the second bedroom.
The third bedroom will do fine for my sewing room. The chest freezer will go in one corner and I can use it with a cutting board on the top, two of the tables will make an L shape to take the sewing machines, I just have to fit in the shelf unit.
There is a cupboard in the hall which with e few extra shelves will do very well as a store cupboard against the cold weather`.
The fridge freezer will go in the porch by the back door. I am taking my washing machine with me and there is, to my amazement room for the dishwasher as well. There is more working surface in the kitchen than we have in the one we have now. Cupboard space could be a problem for equipment but I will get over that.
So we have decided to take the cottage, we have to wait for the rent agreement to come through, It’s coming as an attachment for our signature. We have to sign it and send it back.
We are now back at our friends, we had lunch out, so high tea tonight, then we have to battle our way back to the midlands tomorrow.
Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Hello everyone
Thats great news on the Gas bill Zippychick. I hope I have a similar result but it seems unlikely.
Thanks for the suggestions yesterday, I called in at M&S on the way home, and have the 3 for £10 chickens to try. Not a big fan of processed stuff so the meat balls had to be a no and the beef joints were teeny weeny. Half price veg and olive oil which made it reasonable rather than a bargain IYSWIM. Anyway roast chicken with jacket pots and veg for dinner, and I have made the littles another chocolate cake whilst the oven was on.

Trying to be more OS would you recommend I get a book from the library and give it a try?
