Hey Miss Bubbles where are you? I am in West Mids too :j

    Hi BitsyBeans,
Im near Hereford where are you?
The snow shows no signs of stopping!

am not that close then - I am in Solihull :D

H left about half an hour early - he said main roads weren't too bad but our road and the surrounding ones are leathal. It only stopped snowing about 5pm - it's been a long time since I've seen it snow for such a long length of time.
My mum made me a chocolate pudding complete with chocolate sauce :T Kids have had some already and IF I am still hungry after tea I might have some (I doubt it though so should really wait until I am so I can enjoy it more).

Wrap up warm and I hope the ice problems for you all clear up in the morning (not holding my breath mind )

Csarina, where is your new cottage? Am I right in thinking its in Northumberland? My Mum lives in Berwick, so travelled up there at Christmas to see her. Its a beautiful part of the world.

Kids enjoyed the french stick pizzas, and have one left each to take in for lunch tomorrow.

I wanted to bake a fruit cake, but didn't have any dried fruit, so did a ginger cake instead. Bit gutted trying to get it out the tin, its one of those silicone ones so don't think you have to grease them (or perhaps thats where I'm going wrong), but when I turned it out the bottom stuck to the tin, so only got half a cake. :oNever mind, DD enjoyed the scrapings for after her tea!!

Back to work tomorrow after 5 days off, its my weekend working so working for next 4 days and may not make it on here so much. Lets hope the snow keeps the criminals in so I'm not too busy!!:rotfl:

We lived in Hall Green 1986-1991. DD was born in Solihull Maternity, but I think it's all changed since then. I still go back to visit my 'ante natal' group almost 20 years later!

I really don't know where the day has gone. Can't wait till Spring/Summer as I much prefer the longer days.

Went to Mr T today as was running short on quite a few things especially veg and fruit. It is the 1st day we had really been anywhere apart from the hosp this week due to the ice on the pavements. Anyway ds2 and I are back at the hosp tomorrow to see consultant and hopefully we will get a date for him to be admitted to have the pins taken out of his leg.

Lunch today was sardines on toast (forgot how good it tastes been so long since I have made this) dinner was Cottage Pie bulked out with Oats and veg so will do tomorrow as well.

Morwenna/Floss and NPM - I too get married this year on 16 July, still got loads to organise especially as my oh is from the south and I live in the North! I will be moving South hopefully to Lougton/Epping area when we find a house.

Molly41 & Tiredmum - hope your dd's did well in thier exams.

Csarina - the cottage sounds fabulous.

Anniestar - hope you are soon feeling better.

To anyone that has fallen today, hope you are all okay. Hugs to anyone who needs or wants one (((()))).

    Take Care

Does anyone know what the set up costs for keeping chooks is? Do they like pulses?

It was £50 for materials to build the coop and chicken escape proof our fences. £10 for a sack of layers pellets and straw for the coop. The girls themselves where £5 each. They cost us about 25p per week per hen to feed and look after (or you can feed household scraps for less), and return on average 6 eggs per week per hen for this with no eggs laid traditionally between bonfire night and valentines day. Took them around a year to pay for themselves and the coop against what I previously spent on eggs.

BTW, have you heard from Mrs Twit recently?

Obviously the bar was the [STRIKE]first[/STRIKE] last thing I checked out :D

I've not seen Mrs Twit for a while, nearly out of treacle too ;) (If she's out there, she will know what I mean - hi hon, just in case:A)

Yay :T Four OS weddings! :T Does this mean we have to come up with centrepieces using microfibre cloths, Stardrops & a rubber chicken, all arranged in a breadmaker ;)

thanks for all the welcomes. I havent had a productive day really and i tried to get my ds to have an afternoon nap but fell asleep myself:o Good job DH was working at home today so he was safe (he is nearly 5).
Os wise I have had HM lentil soup which was ok- first time i had made it, not too sure i liked the receipe so will tweek it next time.
made a beef casserole and jack spuds which were yum but am now off to do some cakes as I am supposed to be having a virgin vie party tomorrow night- if the weather doesn't put people off. Just hope we get the rain which is forecast.
dont know how people who live in Canada and the like cope with all the snow, i'm finding it a bit depressing after 3 weeks. feel trapped and isolated and wishing that my 3 wheeler buggy wasn't at my mils:mad:
right will stop being self indulgent and go and put my curtains back up which have been washed and check i have the ingrediants for twinks.
just a quick question- how much porridge oats do you chuck in with your mince when making a cottage pie type mixture? have never done this before and want to have a go.

I've been trying to read the thread since I got it from work! Only just got to the end...I really feel for you all with the problems the weather's causing. We've been really lucky with a few days minor inconvenience! Just hope it clears in time for me going to my mum's in February...

I miss my kitchen!! I've been so envious reading the thread and people cooking this and baking that and filling the slow cooker - roll on the weekend!

I reversed today and bumped into a kerb...normally wouldn't have been a problem but in this new silly boy racer lowered car I managed to stove in the exhaust :D I was rescued by the local lad who sold us the car...first thing he said was 'that's not down to me its been shunted!' I admitted fault

I feel at the moment like the exhaust of my life is dragging along the ground...and irritating the h3ll outta me!

Anyway I treated myself last night to that book 'how to feed your family while doing twelve jobs with two moody teenagers a gaggle of step-kids and a demon daughter biting your ankles while you dance round the space your kitchen used to be with a duster in each hand and a brush in your lower orifice' - so I'm looking forwards to that arriving - might satisfy my domestic craving!:D

OS wise - well I feel like I'm living in the aftermath of the blitz and I'm collecting a nice layer of dust in the hall.....I think I'll re-classify it as 'art' ;)

I think thats me done...thank you for listening
