I'm left paying for my ex bf's PC. Advice wanted

Of course he doesn't care - you need to demand that he returns to the PC to you or you will report him to the police for theft as it is legally yours. I would send him a letter as it sounds like you still have a weak spot for him, so when you actually speak to him he's able to sweet talk his way out of it and get away with it time and again.
Honey, we've all gotten like this over partners - it's time to get tough with yourself and say NO! I won't allow myself to be walked over by this !!!!!!. Get tough with yourself and then get tough with him. You'll love and respect yourself a whole amount more! Be strong.

Why would we be hard on you? You helped him out while you were in a relationship. We've all been guilty of that at some point I am sure. I know I have. And yes, down the line it's easy to look at it and say 'I was a fool' but you weren't, you were just being a loving partner.
However, he is being an ungrateful idiot and I do think you should get tough with him and stand up for yourself now. How dare he say he needs the computer so he can't give it back. Bloody tough mate, pay for it then! He is throwing your kindness in your face and actually he's made me mad now LOL.
I know it's hard to move on when you have all of this contact hanging over you. But, coming out of a relationship feeling you have been treated like a fool is equally hard to deal with. You will always have a feeling of bitterness every time you think of how he has behaved.
I honestly would give him one last chance (in writing) to either pay the full remaining balance or to return the computer immediately, if he ignores it I would call the local police station and report him for theft.:A

Hold the brick in your right hand, and throw the pebble at the window of a room he is in. Count to three, and throw the brick. He'll get to the window to see what the pebble was just as the brick arrives.
thats the funniest thing i have read to day!!!

Whilst I agree with the sentiment am not sure the police will want to know! I suspect it'll turn out to be a civil rather than a criminal matter since it probably isn't theft! My advice would be to contact your local CAB (Guildford)0 -
I expect the police will not be interested, they will see it as a civil matter (he owes you money) rather than theft.
The court route is an option, but have you got anything from him in writing stating that he owes you the money? He could say you bought him the PC as a gift. Even if you get a judgement in your favour, obtaining payment may be no easier than it is now.0 -

This is why I hate the police
This is clearly an injustice, and they dont give a t***.
The PC is yours and i'd advocate any means necessary to get it back
Dont let this idiot treat you like a doormat any longer0 -
You're right Toto, I do need to stand up for myself. I shall do what you said and write to him and see what happens. He'll probably claim that he never received the letter knowing what he's like.
I had not thought about contacting the Citizens advice, I will do that if I receive no reply to my letter.
Unfortunately I don't have anything from him saying that he owes me the money. He has the PC which is in my name and I get all the letters from HFC bank. Even if he doesn't pay I'm guessing he has to give me back the PC?-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Woohoo! I'm normal! Gotta go tell the cat.0 -
Has he ever paid you an installment by cheque? If he has, that is proof enough that he knows he owes the money. If it went to the small claims court you could obtain copies of all cheques to back up your claim. He would have a hard time denying that. My guess is that once he knows you mean business and can't be walked over he will cave in.:A

No, he never paid by cheque. His name used to be on file for the Direct Debit payment of £25.66.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

Oh well, there you go then. His name on the DD is him admitting he owes the money. The only way it's hard to prove is if he always paid in cash.
I would write to him and send it recorded delivery so you have proof he got it.
Let us know how you get on.:A
