Slowly, slowly getting the ironing sorted.

What does everyone put in their irons for the steam?

I use a fragranced ironing water from Sainsbury's, which I prefer to tap water, but wondered if anyone makes their own, as it would be cheaper.

Next door's teen has decided to put his music on. He plays it so loud that our walls vibrate

DD1 is not impressed, as she's up now - she doesn't do mornings really  As long as she doesn't get into a strop and start moaning, we should be ok.

    Morning all!

Feeling quite positive about everything this morning, in a bid to make life simpler I am taking a big step back from those friends who can be rather draining, not those who are genuinely in need though! Anyway feel much better for it, well for making the decision anyway!

Having a friend round for coffee this morning I think, but could be tomorrow lol! Best check soon I suppose and throw some cake in the oven! Though there is a rather nice choc and orange loaf that dd3 made last night sitting on the side!

OS stuff will involve the kitchen yet again, cleaning and baking, poo to the first, yay to the second! Need some lunchbox treats and want to experiment with making cereal bars for dd1 who loves them.

Went shopping yesterday, to get the bits for dd3 to cook dinner, whilst I was there I thought I might as well get on with the rest of my shopping - amazingly with no list or meal plan I trotted round and came back with the right stuff and a meal plan in my head! So last night was the chicken in bacon, tonight will be pizza and baked pots, and I've thrown a bolognese in the SC ready for tomorrow, will also turn it into wraps for later in week and a lasagne for the freezer. Got a nice piece of pork ready to turn into Somerset casserole when the bolognese is done, and that can go in the freezer then ready for the end of the week. Have some puff pastry in the fridge and will be using up the leftover chicken for pies too. Felt quite pleased with myself for not coming back with a pile of stuff and wondering what to do with it - all this meal planning has obviously become ingrained!

Lunches for kiddywinks: hm rolls with ham (donated by cheffy ex so free, whoopee!), apples, choc chip tray bake from freezer, cheese cubes.

Dinner: pizza and baked pots with salad (kids are salad obsessed at the mo, think it's a reaction from all the rich food, ended up with a salad made from iceberg, mangetout, grated carrot and celery the other day, as it was all I had in the fridge lol!)

btw has anyone heard all the kerfuffle on radio 4 this morning about packed lunches not measuring up to school dinners? I would love my kids to have the school dinners, but they aren't very good, certainly wouldn't fill my bunch up and cost too much!

Coffee and a catch up now before I get baking, hugs to all xx

    Morning all,

I'm stuffed. :D Had a big day on the mainland and it was hot as hell. Did you hear the news ? You might be having a holiday for International Australia Day. :T :D

Going to visit a friend tomorrow, her daughter died on Saturday night. Her funeral is Saturday on the island but we're over the mainland that morning packing DD up and bringing a van back. We're staying in her unit Friday night so not due back at midday on the car ferry. So thought I'd pop over tomorrow for a chat & hug. Going to visit DH aunties on Thursday so will make a lemon & passionfruit slice tomorrow to take over.

Hope you all have a lovely day. How's the weather? <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning all

Kids all dispatched to school so a bit of peace and quiet today. I've tidied around, emptied the compost, fed the birds, written the cheque for the milkman.

Heading off out in a bit as I need to look at tiles. We are having our downstairs cloakroom turned into a shower room at half term and that is the last thing to choose. With 3 boys (all playing lots of sport) we struggle with one shower especially in the mornings so hopefully it will be a job well done.

good luck with the tutoring. The fact you're nervous shows you care and want the best for you pupils. Which subject/age group are you doing?

Haribo how old are your twins?

I know nothing about dogs. We have 3 mogs and yesterday we had a moggie breakthrough. Our female cat has never accepted our youngest cat who we have had for 13 months. Yesterday I went upstairs and she was asleep in her basket which is in our bedroom and she had 'woody' in there with her asleep. We were all so pleased that the whole family went and took a look and gave her a stroke and told her how good she was.

Dinner is pork in BBQ sauce
lunch for me will be turkey toasted sandwich
DS3 has the baking choice for today and has chosen Victoria Sandwich

I'm not great with names, but quite good at remembering random facts so hopefully in time I'll get to know you all.

    Morning all :)

    Hope you are all well

Diva - lol at treacle. My old cat could hear a carrier bag rustle/fridge door open at 200 yards :rotfl:
bargainbird - the wraps sound great
lowsey - take care hun ((hug))
    floss2 - congratulations :) :T
    to the flyladies
    welcome seequeena and benW :o

Well - I look like freddie kruger this morning :) Great  My joints ache like nothing on earth. OH bought Glucosamine tablets. I swallowed them. I'm allergic to fish. I should have known what they make the things from!?

My friend is still being indecisive about her wedding cake. I showed her the most kitschtastic picture in my much loved 1973 cake decorating book - it's a barbie doll loo-roll holder style bridal procession made from cake with a bride and three bridesmaids - and told her if she didn't tell me soon I'd make that :D :rotfl:No sign of Kenwood yet - I hate snow.

Dinner last night was pulled pork sandwiches. Lunch is from the never ending pot of soup - I think it's squash. I think. Don't quote me on that. It's soup of purest orange.

House is a mess of art stuff as I'm trying to get the valentines stuff finsihed for photographing. We are also doing a swap - where we have to send a handmade heart to one of the other people in the group. I started last night, but I don't sew well. In my head I know what I want it look like :rotfl: I am suppossed to be teaching a work colleague how to do French knitting later. If I can remember that is :)

Have a good day all, cel x

  • I saw that about lunchboxes on the news Mummysaver.......DS will not have hot dinners as he would never eat them as they wouldnt fit in around his autism.....he takes healthy lunchboxes as far as I am concerned.....he has HM bread with ham or tuna and some fruit, fresh OJ, and some crisps.....I do not worry about the crisps, he has a balanced healthy diet in the main.....as much as the autism will allow.
MSD our fatcat appears on the bottom stair everytime I take the meat joint out of the oven to rest on a sunday:rotfl: and talks and shouts like mad for her tuna each morning

Hmmmmmmmm just had a very contrite DH on the phone apologising for being an a*$e this morning. Don't think I'll mention the slipping over incident to him as he feels guilty enough bless him.

Of course if he'd rung up still being an a*$e, I would have told him and possibly even embellished a little :rotfl::whistle::naughty:

    Morning everyone.

Big fat robin is tucking in nicely to the seed sprinkled on the floor and he's had a bath in the fresh water I've put out :D
[STRIKE]I[/STRIKE] We made a snowman yesterday. It's supposed to be a bear but it looks more like a cat. Those of you who are the right age if you remember a kids programme called Henry's Cat then you'll have some idea what my snow bear looks like :rotfl:
Have an elderly friend of my mum's (used to be an neighbour to us years ago) coming round for lunch and to see the kids. My mum has just rung and said can I make some cheese scones to go with lunch today  Like I have nothing else to do this morning (like hang around on MSE :rotfl:). Sorry feeling a tiny bit uncharitable this morning for some reason :o It just feels like my mum has arranged all this and although I don't have anywhere to go today I now have to start cooking more food (despite us having rolls to go with the soup already). I really need to shake off this mood.......
Anyway got some washing to hang us, little bit of cleaning. I did quite well from my cleaning rota yesterday - I really want to see if I can stick to it. Only downside is having laminate floors I have to vac EVERY day - carpet wasn't so forgiving with stains and spillages but boy it hid more dust and bits. So have to push the vac around downstairs, make some scones and play with the kids. Don't sound a lot but no doubt it will take me forever!!!

Not sure what's for tea tonight. I really ought to get some more mince out and make some adult sized cottage pies.

H is picking up our new freezer tonight :T Yep it's the mahoosive one (13 cubic ft I think) so all I need to do now is fill it :rotfl:

Right better crack on and get some jobs done.

Bargainbird - where are my manners :o I completely forgot to thank you for posting your yummy receipe yesterday - which I see you've done again today.

Redruby - hope your move went smoothly and that you've settled in to your new home.

Welcome to all the new ladies - lets have a party

Hugs to those that need them. Have a good day OS or not.

PS. Loving the pics of the poochies by the way. I don't find those pics too big but I guess if you are on a phone or slower internet it takes ages to download......

When I read it last night, it said half of all children take pack lunches to school, and I did wonder to myself if the low number of school dinners would get them wondering why?

When DDs were at school, they were entitled to free school meals, but still had a pack lunch, because the dinners were so poor. They are supposed to have improved, but no idea what the quality would be like now.
