  • I`ve just put in some sliced leeks, a couple of whoopsied lamb neck fillets, and (shame on me!) poured over a sachet of oxo minty lamb gravy. I`ll leave it on low all day as we won`t be eating till around 10pm.

thunderchild - I have a chicken curry recipe that would work well with chickpeas im sure. I have only just bought dried chickpeas as we use them a lot and more econonical this way so im not sure but personally I think I would soak them first, as the tinned ones are presoaked and I usually bung the tin in when I have these.

This is a recipe I do on the hob but no reason why it shouldnt work in the slow cooker

For 2 people im not sure how amny chickpeas but try this curry sauce:
    1 tbsp medium curry powder
    1 onion chopped
    1 pepper chopped
1 apple, grated (or use some apple sauce)
    1 tbsp tomato puree
    1/2 tin tomatoes
    1/2 tin coconut milk
Handful sultanas (im sure you are ok adding this at the beginning but you might want to check)
    1 tsp fresh ginger
    1 tsp garlic

Ive been told by my bro you can also add potato, sweet potato and banana strangely!!

    Good luck :-)

Tuna pasta sauce. 2/3 tins chopped tomatoes, two onions, garlic, 2 large carrots, 2 green peppers, tin tuna, mixed italian herbs, seasalt, and black pepper.

As I only have 1 tin of tuna, I'll see if I can get away with adding a handful of red lentils.

Thinking of doing gammon later this week, maybe with lentils, leeks and carrots at the bottom to make into soup. I am however slightly concerned about cooking times. I'm out of the house for roughly 9 hours. The joint will be big enough for maybe 4 meals, would 9 hours on high be too much? Would low be better or would that leave it undercooked? I've done beef and chicken thighs on high for this long with no ill effect, but I don't want the gammon to dry out.

Also what liquid would be best? Apple juice? Stock? I'm thinking of the soup as well as the actual meat, I'm not sure how nice apple juice soup would be.....
