I've just come in from a night shift to a bacon joint cooked in sc with onion, carrot and a 500g bag of yellow split peas (soaked overnight) together with 3 chopped carrots.

I now have 7 portions of ham and veg that can be stretched to: soup with added water; casserole with mashed potatoes or on top of a jacket spud.

It's only taken me a week to get round to it,but I've just made my first meal in my slow cooker-lentil dhal with onion, garlic and cumin!!
It'll be cooking overnight (I wouldn't have thought of doing that myself, but someone suggested it here).I'd just like to say thanks for all the helpful suggestions/advice given here.
I was amazed to read that I can even make cakes in the SC.I'd love to try one soon,I love making cakes.:)

It sounds like it would be nice either with or without wine.

I would deduct some liquid from the pork mix though or it may end up with too much liquid in.

Ive put in mine a big pack of diced turkey thigh (£2.40), some soaked cannellini beans (20p), some chopped red onion (40p), a carton of chopped tomatoes with basil (39p), a teaspoon of green pesto (8p), a vegetable stock cube (5p), a handful of cherry tomatoes (5p), a spoonful of chopped garlic (5p) and a couple of dried chillis (1p).... will make about 6 portions and to make it stretch further i might serve it with potatoes or rice (but doesn't really need it because of the starchy beans)
  • I've got a joint of beef in mine today. Poured in a cup of french onion soup, so gravy should be tasty. Not sure what i'll do with it. Maybe stovies?

Does anyone know if I can keep some and make a beef casserole in the sc another day? Not sure about doing the same beef in the sc is okay, if you know what I mean. X
    Need to start again :o

I found some diced venison in the bottom of the freezer last night, so defrosted it and have popped it in the slow cooker with a homepride sauce - beef in ale!! I know venison isn't beef but hey who cares..lol
