I've got beef, onions and mushrooms in mine cooking very nicely in guiness - it smells lovely.

I always do the beef and onions in guinness too, its gorgeous and makes lovely rich gravy afterwards.
I always try to save a bit of the meat and gravy for a pie. I make the small ones in a ceramic pot with just a pastry topping and fill the pot with gravy, they taste just like the posh expensive ones that you sometimes get when eating out.

Today we have a joint of lamb (no idea what cut - it's long and flat lol) in a small amount of water, rosemary red wine vinegar & salt. Into scored skin, I have pressed some garlic & rosemary and rubbed with salt.
I have cooked lamb in the SC once before and lovely and tender as it was, it was a bit tasteless, so this time, I reduced the amount of water and used some salt to try and increase the flavour. Looking forward to it.

Did you manage to get your cottage pie filling as thick as when you do it in the pan?
I always find my SC dishes have lots of thin stock / gravy with them. I add corn flour to end of cooking but its still on the thin side not like pan cooked dishes.0 -

Hi cooking-mama,
I've done a really nice butternut squash soup before with a bit of chilli in it. I made it on the hob and chopped up a dried chilli but powder and it the slow cooker will be fine I'm sure.
Finished it off with a couple of spoons of low fat creme fraiche, was delicious!0 -

Whole chicken with, from the bottom of the salad drawer in the fridge, rather sad looking carrots, lemon, celery, red onion and apple, rosemary from my winter battered garden and a sprinkle of cinnamon, and finally some cider.
