Talking of pets, in my slow cooker today was..........

nothing :( I put in gammon & cider as someone had suggested & came home to find my dog had not only dragged the sc to the edge of my work top, but had mannaged to get the lid off too. The gammon was found half eated in his bed
Suffice to say I WILL NOT be cooking pet mince in mine!! :o

Oh my wee monster wouldn't have given up there, even if she'd made herself sick, the wee midden would have eaten that too!
I put it down to her being a re-homed workie dog......so small and fighting 2 big labs for yer tea every night make ye greedy.
Disgusting grabs over recent year... full pot of cooked turnip, the blackbirds leftover apple skins,,,DS and DD puke_pale_

    added edit.....
God she has no taste at all...today's grab, the tiny remainder of a blackbird that some vicious [STRIKE]cat[/STRIKE] predator had caught and mainly gobbled.

Some poor owner probably got that wee pressie through the cat flap this evening.
Not just a sucker for sweeties..:o

Mine is going to have chicken thighs and drumsticks in a tomato, black olive and anchovy sauce. mmm. Usually lasts 3 days (2 teas and 1 lunch for both of us) and I'll vary what I'm having with it - potatoes, rice or some frozen chips (towards the end of the week!) and usually green beans.

Oh Westy, that post did make me laugh...sorry you didn't get your tea though!! :)

Has anyone cooked chicken and apricots in the SC. I have some tinned apricots i need to use up and a whole chook, any advice would be appreciated. Actually any advice even if its not in the SC but the oven would be great.

All the odds and sods out of the fridge are in mine now but i won`t be turning it on until tonight.

It should make a nice thick veggie soup to portion up and freeze for lunches next week. I`m always amazed at how much soup comes out for so few veggies but i`m definitely not complaining :D

I sometimes throw in a whole tin of peaches or apricots with my gammon in the SC. I don't drain it (but I only use the ones in fruit juice.) Keeps it moist and sweet. I'm tempted to try the same with chicken.

I've got beef, onions and mushrooms in mine cooking very nicely in guiness - it smells lovely.

Im cooking a whole chicken in mine today and will make it S-T-R-E-T-C-H as far as I can :D

Roast chicken lunch today, chicken curry to be frozen, chicken in gravy frozen in small amounts for hot roast chicken sandwiches, and i will try yet again to make chicken soup with the stock.
