Whole chicken with, from the bottom of the salad drawer in the fridge, rather sad looking carrots, lemon, celery, red onion and apple, rosemary from my winter battered garden and a sprinkle of cinnamon, and finally some cider.
The house smells good enough to eat.

I did something similar yesterday, today we had the rest of the chicken and veg with sliced potato topping done in the remoska (could be done in the oven though) and it was tasty and as the chuck cost 2 quid it worked out around 25p per portion over the 2 days!

Mine was unloved and empty for the first time in ages today but I'm making another beef casserole tomorrow with carrots, loads of cabbage, onions, bovril stock, passata, garlic, dried herbs, worcester sauce and some tesco value instant mash to thicken. My incredibly fussy ketchup obsessed DH loves it (even without ketchup) and its always nice when we both eat the same dinner (he has mash with his and I have mashed swede)

Cooked a rolled shoulder of lamb in it yesterday and it didn't come out too well...just lookd grey and greasy.

I can't remember the last time I ate a ready made sauce. I still get them for DH as he is really fussy but I love bunging this and that in the slow cooker and seeing how it turns out. Everything is pretty much tomato based though, think I need to start looking at recipes!

I'm a bit the opposite ...I often long to pop a jar of sweet n sour, but OH is a grumpy old man in training....and he [STRIKE]insists[/STRIKE] politely requests a home made job. Don't really have the heart to deny him, his job's quite physical and refuelling is very important to him.

Mine shall be lying empty today however tomorrow I will do a roast chuck and so the SC will get the carcass and some veggies for stock :D The chicken leftovers will go in a curry on Monday (as it's a quick stir-fry style curry it wont be in the SC). Poor little SC being left out a bit this week, should however be fed a fair bit more next week!

Plums and apples with honey, a splash of wine, star anise and cardamom on the SC today. The leftovers from yesterdays chicken will make a nice filling for chicken and sweetcorn pie tonight.

I got the same results as you Lisaberry with lamb DS loves lamb but he wouldn't eat it, I think shoulder cut is a bit too fatty for the SC and needs the higher temp of an oven.

    Complete novice here.

I have bought a slow cooker today as my cooker is broken.

I am very disapponted as it seems I have to saute or boil meat and other ingredients before adding to SC.

My only other real 'weapon' is a microwave. Please can some 'experienced' advise me.
