Right! Time to hold up my hands and admit its been a while since I used my slowcooker – I don’t know why, just kind of forgot about it…
Anyhoo, the beef and onions in guiness sounds lovely!! Do I just whack in a whole can of the black stuff or have a slurp or 2 first?!?!! Will probably try it on weds or thurs as I am out for tea tomorrow straight from work so also need to find time to get the stuff from the shops!!!0 -

I've just put together a sausage casserole for tomorrows dinner. Usually I would brown the sausages first, but I can't be bothered! At least I will have a hot meal ready when I come home from my day out in London!0

Onion, celery, carrots, potatoes, green lentils, braising lamb, water and a curry spice mixture. I have put it on high - guessing that this will be for a couple of hours then turning down to low for 4 hours. Does that sound about right? Remember I am total novice so shout if I am wrong please.
It really depends on your SC, Spirit - when I got mine I found it cooked rather faster than most other people's, going by the cooking times generally posted. At first that annoyed me, I thought my cooker was faulty, but now have adjusted to the fact that most things cook on low in 4 or 5 hours max. The timing you planned for your braising lamb seems normal, but if you find it is overcooked at the end of it (like your chicken breasts), just start using slightly shorter cooking times until you find out what's right for you."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -

its a Nigella recipe that I tweaked a bit -
Ing:
1 large butternut squash
1-2 onions
2 cloves garlic
2 med potatos
1 tsp thyme
handful red split lentils
2 veg stockcubes
enough water to cover everything
splash worcester sauce
splash tomato sauce
method:
peel and dice squash, potato, onion and garlic
place in large dish, add some oil and roast on gas mark 6 for 15 - 20 mins
then put in slow cooker
add rest of ingredients, stir well then cook on high for 1 hour then medium for 3-4 or until lentils are cooked, veg is very soft and it smells too good to wait any longer
I stirred mine a couple of times while it was in the slow cooker
then either mash or blitz in a blender, you can also add a little cream or creme fraiche just before serving if you want.0 -
