Liver and Bacon
Bacon pieces, 2 onions, liver, salt, tomato ketchup, 1 pt beef stock.
Fry in a large pan the bacon and onions.
Toss the liver into some flour to coat and fry quickly to brown on both sides.
Season and add the tomato sauce, stock
Lid on and cook for 8 hours on low.
This dish serves 4 and cost about £2. I used whoopsee liver @ 99p and 1/2 pck of bacon off cuts @ 50p other ingreadients up to 50p.
I will cook some mashed potatoe and veg to go with this dish later.:)If winter comes, can spring be far behind?

If you have a little left over try the pate, strain the liquid off and put in a food processor with some room temperature butter and blend until smooth.
It`s lovely on toast.

Excellent thanks, I may nip to the butchers, one of my pugs is on a raw food diet as she has Atopic dermatitis and can't have any grain, so would be soooo much cheaper than buying her a cut of meat daily, thanks for that.stef240377 wrote: »Its all the off cuts and left over meats they cant sell to us to eat. From the smell of it when it cooks it is a rather strong offal smell rather than the fresher meatier smell of say beef mince.Thriftkitten

I went into my local butchers today and he said as a rule he no longer sells it as theres not a lot of call for it these days but as i am a regular he will get some made up for me and freeze it so i can have it whenever i want and will charge me 40p lb so will be a lot cheaper than tinned food.

Heavens! I just read the post above asking about pet mince, and I thought you'd all been posting about cooking it for yourselves! I'm glad I read the rest of the page. I wouldn't have slept tonight.:rotfl:0
