It's been on for 6 hours and the carrots and spuds are still not cooked!! Saucepan job I think :-(

my housemate used to find the carrots and spuds never seemed cooked - until I caught her lifting the lid all the time!! while its tempting to lift the lid and give it a stir or a poke, you lose so much cooking time!!

Also the veg need to be on the bottom, they need to be surrounded by liquid, the meat not so much

New 3.5l SC on the go right now...it's a crock pot one and a bit smaller than my big SC, so there is a bolognaise in there right now. Just the right amount for a couple of night's tea for the 3 of us. Loving the smaller size for when I am not doing batches of stuff for the freezer. :T

After giving up on my cracked 6litre slow cooker that was far too big and wasting too much food I have finally got round to buying a 3litre slow cooker! It will hopefully encourage my husband to actually wash the pot occasionally instead of moaning about how hard it is to wash up!

I live alone but have a small and larger SC. I use the big one for batch cooking to fill the freezer. By cooking so much it is even more economical and it only takes a few minutes to reheat in the microwave. I do allow it to defrost overnight in the fridge.

  • Liver and Bacon will be going in mine shortly. To freeze in single servings for DH. I have never developed a liking for it myself and have to use the cook-from-frozen lambs liver from Iceland as, after over 40 years of cooking it, I still can't bring myself to handle raw liver!!
