    Paprika Chicken! :j

Mrsdwhite - let us know how it turns out. My oven just broke and we will be without one for at least a fortnight as can't afford to replace/fix it just at the moment. Intrigued to try it out lol.

It turned out quite well actually! The pasta was a tad soggy but that's because I left in the the slow cooker longer than needed. I've also done moussaka and melanzana parmigiana in there before when my oven broke.

There's a fb page called slow cooked wonders which has some very good recipes.

I've discovered how secular the slow cooker is when I'm working splits and DH has to do our dinner (or not as the case often is and I end up with beans on toast :-/).
I have planned for the next 2 days of me working split shifts chicken in bag with the Maggi pack and sausage casserole :)
I'll just put them in in the morning and we can have it when I finish at night.

Not in yet but will be stewing steak, finely chopped mushrooms & onions, small dice potatoes, stock, mixed herbs and a dollop of Dijon mustard.

Will be used for a pie base and I'll drop in a bit of blue stilton left over from Christmas before I put the pastry lid on and stick it in the oven.
  • Using the slow cooker today to make my 1st "slow cooker curry".

Its butter chicken. I got up early thismorning and was frying the chicken and curry paste/ingredients at 7:10am. Wife got up and wondered why the kitchen smelt like dinner was cooking lol.

Then into the slow cooker with the reduced yoghurt I had frozen a week before (defrosted overnight).

I'm hoping for a nice Indian dinner ready when I arrive home tonight, just needing some rice cooked before its dished out for everyone :j

Can I ask a quick question? I have just bought a slow cooker and have some ingredients to make some things (recipes pulled off allrecipes website!) I am a bit scared of it to be honest and just wondering when you guys find the time to get all the preparation done before chucking it in?
I have to get two young kids up and out the house for 8am mon-fri to get to work and don't have time to stand and chop veg etc in the morning unless I was to get up at 5am :eek:

I do all the prep the night before. So on a Monday night i'll brown the meat and chop the veggies and leave in the fridge overnight.
then in the morning I just chuck it all in the SC and go to work :)

Wow you are keen. I do nothing apart from cut everything into cubes or slice. Then add water, spices anything else needed. I will leave it in that state until I go to bed, when I turn it on and go to sleep. With the exception of mincing the meat mine is very quick to do. It might take no more than 10 minutes emptying in all the ingredients, and stirring to ensure it is not going to burn.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

I'm doing oxtail stew, I've never cooked it before so I hope it is nice. I love oxtail soup so it should be ok.
