Just about to dish up beef stew & dumplings from ours. Made with no recipe, just throwing things in. Real ale and veg from Aldi super 6 - onion, leeks, swede and carrots, a couple of stock cubes, sprinkle of onion gravy granules and seasoned with salt & pepper. To be served with a few boiled new potatoes (also Aldi)

    I love comfort food!

The facebook page is fab - did a few recipes already and turned out great! Just a question to anyone who has the tesco slow cooker (£10 I got a few years ago) mine cooks really fast even on low and if not stirred things burn to the sides so most meals are on low for 5 hours max! Has anyone had this as I want to leave it on all day 6-8 hours but I cant without spoiling the meal! I know everyone says yoh cant overcook in a slow cooker but yoy can in mine! Just debating getting a new one or if there is anything I can do? Thanks

I am doing lamb shanks with onion, garlic, carrot and celery. I didn't have any tinned toms so added a jar of tomato and red pepper pasta sauce. I have also put in a couple of teaspoonful of rose Harissa paste. Roll on tomorrow!

Ours isn't the Tesco one but it does the same thing. We bought a timer that you plug the plug into (£5 ish) and it's perfect when we're out at work. Comes on lunchtime ish and is done when we get in.

I also do that in winter. Am out of the house from about 06:50 and back home around 17:00. So when I'm putting the slow cooker on I do all the chopping/prep the night before and just get up 10 minutes early so I can bung everything in, plug it in on a timer set to come on at 12, then all I have to do when I walk in to the lovely smelling house after work is dish it up and enjoy. Love it!
This is WAY more fun than monopoly.

We have a Morphy Richards (large size) with three heat settings.

The medium and low were giving out the same heat so I wrote to them and complained.

The replacement they sent is exactly the same.

Bought a small S/C in a car boot and that is a lot cooler.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • Belly pork slices in a BBQ sauce. Smelling delicious!
