I don't know if it is any help but.... I take the frozen portion out of the freezer in the morning, then when I am ready for dinner I microwave it through. You can microwave from frozen, of course, but it takes a lot longer so uses more energy. I am not sure what the energy usage would be to compare slow-cooking a portion from frozen, to microwaving a thawed portion?Love and compassion to all x0

chilli in mine tonight
Then it can have a rest until it's needed for bolognaise next week, and another chilli the week after that for halloween!0 -
Just bought a slow cooker so found this thread!:) & got some fab ideas from some slow cooker facebook group sites. Rice pudding tonight for it's test drive (lovely) & beef stew tomorrow, have also got my eye on a spicy butternut squash soup to use the squash up that's been sitting in my fridge a while. Looking forward to more cooking!:D0

You are welcome Sukeyboo. Please do like the page above though (on Facebook) it is great, I totally recommend it & have got lots of ideas from it & you get recipes through daily on your newsfeed (have liked similar sites too if you put in slowcooker/crockpot (American word for slow cooker) other groups come up also but the one above is friendly, English & people often share where the offers are on in our supermarkets to buy ingredients). The only thing is I seem to be shopping all the time now for ingredients & researching/ squiggling down recipes its like an obsession! Lol!. No, I seriously don't know why I never bought a slow cooker earlier, I only did because many of my friends on Facebook kept posting recipes etc from the site so looked at it & realised many of the simple dishes would suit us (Hubby is a really fussy eater but also got an unfussy growing 8yr old Son that constantly needs filling up! lol!) and then decided to buy a cheap one with great reviews from Argos to see how we go and its fab, so worth the money!.Can now have wholesome meals simmering away whilst I am sleeping the days from nightshifts where before we would often make do with easier teas when I am on my nights.x:)0
