Pea and ham soup, made with split yellow peas (dried), bacon bits, carrot, onion, garlic and a bit of reduced salt veg stock. Worked out at approx 30p per portion and that's generous portions :)

I have just found this slow cooker recipe, has anyone ever put frozen chips in their slow cooker?

Never heard of that one before.

It looks like them go mushy and look like mashed potato.

Update: Just noticed that he has used a bag of defrosted frozen chips.
  • Hi Guys, just found this thread ,

I'm currently in love with my slow cooker, (I don't have an oven or hob). I made some lovely chicken soup/stew on thurs and a lush chilli on fri. I love the fact that I ca just chuck everything in and let it be on low either while I'm sleeping or at work.

Only problem I have is I live on my own and end up making enough for a family :o. I don't have a freezer so I'm going to have my 3rd meal of chilli with jacket potato in a bit, do you think I should spend some money on getting a small freezer (ebay gumtree etc) to be able to save a little bit??

    Thanks

you need a freezer, they work together. When you make a pot of eg; chilli,
freeze the excess into portions, then on rushed days, or financially embarrassed weeks, you can pop into your slow cooker, turn it on and your meal will be there when you get home.
Do I need it or just want it.

White Bean Paprikash going in after lunch. White beans, onions, stock, soya milk, a little flour/oil roux to thicken it as it simmers, smoked paprika, grain mustard, garlic, maybe a pinch of nutmeg.... looking forward to it already! Going to have it with rice I have added a bay leaf and veggies (peas, sweetcorn, carrot) to in the pan as it cooks.
Love and compassion to all x

Do you put the frozen meals into slow cooker whilst they are still frozen? Didn't know you could do that...great idea if that's what you mean :-)
