    Hi all,
I'm quiet new to using a slow cooker but today I am making hubby lamb hotpot, diced lamb (took me AGES to chop off the fatty bits...which the dogs ate!), onions, carrots, the packet mix and sliced potatoes on the top.
It says on the packet (which is for the oven) 30 mins before the end of cooking to remove lid to crisp potatoes a bit so is it possible to put the actual slow cooker pot in the oven for half an hour or do you think it would break it?
    Thanks

You probably could minus the lid of course but i`m not sure that i`d want to risk it.

    Yesterday I made sausage casserole..mmmm...

Today is pot roast chicken (with onion, garlic, celery, stock) for dinner, then with the juices, left over chicken and some extra veggie's I'm going to make chicken casserole with dumplings tomorrow.

I love my slow cooker :blushing:

  • I have pork shoulder joint in mine today. Going to cook on low till aboout 4.30 then if I can get it out on one piece shove it in a hot oven to see if I can get crackling, probably wont work but worth a try.

There will be plenty left so will do for Sunday dinner tomoorow as well and I may eek a couple of sandwiches from it as well!

The pork was divne, I shall never conventionally roast pork shoulder again! After 9 hours in the slow cooker it was bunged in a 200° oven for an hour, crackling was the best i have managed to make.

We are finishing off the joint in hot pork, stuffing and gravy baguettes. 2 meals for 3 from a £6 joint! :T
  • Today in mine is Yvetsi, a Greek lamb stew that we always have when we are on holiday in Greece. DS prefers mine to the authentic Greeks!

    Lamb neck fillets
    Passata
    Onions
    Oregano
    Salt
    Pepper
    Touch of dried garlic flakes

Bunged in and left for the day. Will add rice shaped pasta at the end and put OH in the oven with some cheese on, me and DS don't like cheese so we have ours plain.
  • I am low on stocks today so have used up some stuff to make up a nice casserole, I defrosted some frozen chicken breasts in the micro added some peppers, red onion, sweetcorn and bacon and a barbecue packet mix, it smells lovely!
