Now that is one recipe that i would really like to try if you have the time to post it, i love soups and i`m looking for something a bit different to the usual ones that i cook.
Tonight mine will have the usual dog food in it, i`ve been making this once a week all through winter and have only run out one day. That night i gave the monsters a tin of meat and they just picked at it, i don`t know if its because of the mingled flavours in the hm stuff or if its the fact that they have it warm but they seem to prefer it over just about anything else. I love it that they are keen as it saves me an absolute fortune

This recipe is from WW
Chop into small pieces
2 Carrots
1 onion
2 celery sticks
200g swede or turnip
put into SC
Add
1 garlic clove crushed
2tins of tomatoes
1 tbsp tom puree
1 tbsp italian mixed herbs
pour in 900ml veg stock
It says to simmer until all veg is tender but i have just bunged it all in the SC, stirred and left to cook.:)I don't have a signature yet....0 -
Aw :A thanks so much for posting the recipe, i`ve copied it into a doc to save, i think that i`ve all the ingredients in except for the swede and celery so it will be in the sc in the near future
Thanks again.

whacked turnip, parsnip, onion, carrots in with diced rump steak (from the bullring market so was very cheap) and made into a stew.
was all excited about having it tonight, but a friend invited me over for chilli instead (am never going to pass up free food)
The stew is currently cooling and im going to freeze it and make it into a cottage pie next week and maybe some cornish pasties???Barclays: 3900/4200

HI Lizzie,
if i`m making it in the large sc i more or less double the recipe. I`ve just made it in the 3.5 l one.
Sliced carrots - enough to cover the bottom about an inch deep or more
Two thirds of a mug of red lentils
Two thirds of a mug of pearl barley
Half a mug of brown rice.
Mince - i buy minced chicken for pet food or value mince from the sm, about 250 grams will do the trick.
When the pulses have been washed put everything in the sc - carrots on the bottom and cover with a kettle full of boiling water to within an inch from the top. I cook overnight so sometimes 8 hours sometimes ten on low.
When its done sometimes i add a bit more water to it - depends how gloopy it is. Freeze in old takeaway cartons and microwave until absolutely boiling (need to do this because of the rice) stirring halfway through. This takes 5 mins or so it depends on how much is in the carton. Its ok from frozen or fresh. I mix it into what ever is left over from their morning meal (usually soaked dried food - mug of supadog, mug of vitalyn and some dried porridge ) Once its cooled a bit i pop it down pop a handful of mixer on the top and watch them devour it. They have been known to camp out below where the bowls are standing waiting for it to cool :rotfl:
I make it once a week if using the smaller sc or once a fortnight in the large one, depends how much freezer space i`ve got at the time.
They prefer it to anything else, they have had just about every brand name of meat going with their later meal but now just pick about if they don`t get their hm stuff

well it was delish, i wizzed some of the veg & added back 1/2 turkey + some pre-cooked pasta + little tom paste + oregano for a 'bake' thing - for 2. i've enough left for my lunch and a mini portion right now for breakfast!
the rest of the meat, veg & stock is being saved for a pie filling. nom nom nom.:DRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -

Tonight we are having pulled pork
Could do with some help for monday though...I'm due to make a chicken korma for eight and - typically - I've lost my recipeI know it involves bone-in chicken thighs, pataks korma paste and half fat coconut milk, but it's been so long since I cooked it I can't remember anything else!! All the other korma recipes I've got aren't as nice if done in the SC.
If anyone has any ideas or knows the recipe I'm on about throw it my way!! I found it online years back, no idea where.0 -
I'm making chillie con carne for hubby but didn't want chewy mince again so I just chucked what I'd bought for it in the slow cooker instead of on the hob....
The mince is a bag of frozen mince you can cook on the hob straight from frozen and I only had a jar of chille con carne sauce which I chucked straight in and just added some water to it as it was too thick for the slow cooker....is it ok to do this or should I chuck it away now?
Next time I'll plan better and maybe get proper mince in and a dry sachet mix for the slow cook.
any advice? Thanks xWhy does my dog chase cars? Even if he caught one he hasn't passed his test!0
