First time using the slow cooker today (well yesterday lol).
I had beef, swede, parsnips, carrots, new potatoes and a bit of bacon in there. I used bouquet garni to season as well as a teaspoon of marmite and mint sauce. It was yummy.

Never tried turkey in the slow cooker, would a turkey drummer work? Just wondering as I'm on a diet they are low fat once the skin has been removed.0 -

Due to the rabbit being a 'domestic' rabbit rather than a wild one there was loads of meat. After cooking it in the slow cooker for several hours and picking the bones out, (slow cookers are a god send for there abillity to cook things so they fall to bits, which is a good thing.) I did a stir fry, then later had a sandwich, then sat picking & nibbling on bits, then ended up giving the rest to my dog (not the bunny killing foster dog) Because it was a domestic rabbit it wasn't gamey, tasted like chicken.
I wouldn't have risked cooking it (or any meat) in a conventional oven 'cos I'm frightend of giving myself food poisoning.

future rich girl that is really OLD style! I remember having an old cook book that told you how to catch your chicken.
Today in my slow cooker is beef stew.
Casserole beef (sainsbo £3 for 10)
onion
mixed herbs, S&P
beef oxo cube
carrot
mushrooms (going a bit dry)
cornflour to thicken sauce.
will do spuds & peas to serve0 -
Chicken pieces, already dead, red wine sauce, red peppers, now off to get panto bits.0

Now that is one recipe that i would really like to try if you have the time to post it, i love soups and i`m looking for something a bit different to the usual ones that i cook.
Tonight mine will have the usual dog food in it, i`ve been making this once a week all through winter and have only run out one day. That night i gave the monsters a tin of meat and they just picked at it, i don`t know if its because of the mingled flavours in the hm stuff or if its the fact that they have it warm but they seem to prefer it over just about anything else. I love it that they are keen as it saves me an absolute fortune
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
