Well my first ever experiment without a tried and very trusted recipe turned out really well.
I was so nervous as I dont ever do things with out instructions as my brain just does not do ad hoc stuff but everyone said it was fab and asked me to do more things with the slow cooker.
I will be reading these boards more and more now.

That's great!
I also prefer to follow a recipe.I haven't used the SC often enough to feel confident making something up off the top of my head.0 -
Refried beans for us for burritos tonight. Just need to make the Salsa and then bung the beans into the tortilla wraps, cover with salsa and sour cream, sprinkle with cheese and bung in the oven when I get in. Mmmmmmmm yummy, Mexican!

Hi everyone,
Just bought a new slow cooker and can't wait til tomorrow to cook up a storm! I had one years ago which I got free when I took out Freeman's catalogue, lol, and remember having some fab stews from it. Things have moved on a lot since then, and my new shiny SC is capable of so much, it seems. As I speak I have some beef defrosting ready for the old beef stew - thought I'd play it safe and ease myself back into slow cooking again. So happy to have found this thread, thanks to everyone for the fab tips I've read so far.
Happy cooking xxx:kisses2:August 1st 2010...so happy I wanna jump up and down on my bed :j0 -
Pork and bean stew. Completely made up recipe, worked out ok and was tasty. Bit stuck around the sides though.Life is what you make it. Always has been, always will be0

Dog food in mine, this time its being made with some cheap OOD mince that i bought and forgot about. Its beef mince so will be fine - actually i almost saved it to make a chilli but i need dogfood atm
Its in the 6.5 litre cooker atm and is on high whilst the leccy is on cheap rate but will go onto low at 6am. Should be done around lunchtime then i can portion it up and freeze. It will be a nice change for the woofaloes as they usually get chicken mince in their food.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
