  • Hi Tartan

I am cooking an 1.8kg smoked gammon joint today - also for the first time. I have put some carrots on the bottom of the slow cooker to 'lift' the meat away from the base and added about 1inch of apple juice, was gonna leave it on low all day.

Honey and mustard spread over the gammon sounds good to me and either plain water or some stock if you have any should work.

    Good luck

Thanks for the info! I basted the gammon in maple syrup and wholegrain mustard (forgot I had it!), and it worked out great! Having HM bread and the gammon for lunch - yum!
  • Hi Tartan,

Glad the Gammon turned out well:T, ours was lush too, had it with roasted whoopsied veg yesterday and made pea and ham soup today, still got some gammon in the fridge, gotta hide it from the kids:rotfl::rotfl:

  • I've done rice pudding in mine today. Replaced some of the milk with evaporated milk, topped with lots of nutmeg. I left it on low all day as it gets nice and caramelised. I stir it a couple of times to stop it sticking.

My DD and DH had it with a splash of cream as it was quite thick and jam, I just had jam.

    Very yummy.

i`ve just tasted the chutney that i made in mine and although it needs to mature for a few weeks its already delish :j

I started off making one recipe but threw so many ingredients in that it ended up being another recipe that i`d seen :D

It did take about 15 hours before it was ready to put into the jars but its really nice and will make a smashing addition to the Christmas hampers.

A whole chicken. £3 bargain from budgens, but decent enough quality for the price.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Water!

Our lounge bay window which isn't double glazed had ice on the inside this morning as it was -11 last night.

I filled it 3/4 full using 2/3 cold water and 1/3 boiling water from the kettle and turned it on high.

It is unbelievable how much heat it is kicking out, it's de iced the windows, kept me warm whilst I am on the PC and it is costing less than 1p an hour according to me smart meter.

    ;)

It would have been better if I had food in it but I forgot to take something of the freezer this morning and I don't like defrosting meat in the microwave as it always tends to start cooking it.
